Tamriel Free For All

M'aiq is wondering, but what if all of the provinces in Tamriel broke out in a war, who do you think would win?

**Note: Even though Orsinium is not a province, M'aiq will still include Orsinium as part of the poll.

M'aiq personally thinks that either Argonia (Black Marsh) or Cyrodill will be the victors.

Argonia - Non-argonians are not able to enter the swamplands of Black Marsh so making it impossible for any province to take over the province

Cyrodiil - Seat of the Empire & Emperor and experienced warriors, mages, etc.

I say Black Marsh as well. They have never been successfully invaded I believe.

Skyrim. Cause strong seafaring and warrior traditions, and they built an Empire that lasted 200 years and destroyed Elven power in Cyrodiil and High Rock. While Black Marsh is indeed nigh-impregnable, the Argonians are not that strong an offensive force (I mean, the only reason I think the Argonians were so successful in Morrowind was because of the Red Year.) being based on skirmishers and light spearmen...Works well in Black Marsh, but probably not anywhere else.

Althought Argonia is nigh impregnable Reman conquered it with his legions, thus I must say Cyrodill because of the adaptable and efficient Legions and the mix of Colovian Warriors and Nibenayian battlemages. However if we are talking Fourth Era Skyrim time then victory would go to Summerset

I believe the Argonian offensive depends on how much threat there is to the Hist. When the war is at home (see Oblivion gates) they feel threatened and send a deadly force to ensure victory. When the war is close, but not in Argonia, they sent a force that is just enough to claim their land (see Morrowind where they only took the southern border which used to be part of Argonia before, and then the attack faded the more they went North). So I guess the Argonian attack depends 100% on the Hist own motivations, which are pretty much unknown, they seem pretty content with what they have in Argonia. Anyway, if a more offensive force like Cyrodiil takes over the whole continent, it would still be a tie with Argonia as long as they can't destroy the Hist and take their land.

Argonia (difficult to conquer) or Hammerfell. The Redguards are the most naturally talented fighters in all of Skyrim, so they could pack a punch in an offensive.

Summerset. All they have to do is sit behind their invincible navy while everyone else kills each other. In a pure free for all, summerset is literally invincible in every definition of the word due to it's location away from the mainland.

Alinor.

Argonians lack the naval power to compete with them by any means.

The Altmers, followed closely by the Argonians.

They don't need a fleet, they *are* a submersible fleet ;)

Let's see:

  • Summerset Isles - The Altmer do have an island, which means that their domain would be easily defendable. However, their performance during the Great War shows that their armies are quite inept at invading other lands. Though that navy would count for something.
  • Black Marsh - The Argonians are only a threat if they have the Hist.
  • Cyrodiil - They are incapable of doing anything by themselves without the help of the provinces, especially Skyrim.
  • Elsweyr - Unknown
  • Hammerfell - If united, they would be quite the threat, especially when one considers the fact that they have the best warriors in Tamriel.
  • High Rock - They seem more interested in fighting amongst one another. Nope.
  • Morrowind - See Hammerfell
  • Orsinium - Although terrifying, they are too small to stand up against their more powerful neighbors.
  • Skyrim - They built their own empire by themselves back in the First Era. Plus, they have the best armies and soldiers in Tamriel. They are among the top players in this list.
  • Valenwood - The Wild Hunt can cause a lot of damage. Though they don't seem to be the type to invade others.

I doubt the Hist cares much for taking over the world.

They'd get slaughtered on the offensive.

They have ridiculous defense when the Hist feels threatened though.

I went with Alinor. Their separation from the mainland makes defence far easier for them, and we know their mages are something to be feared. Unless someone can find a convenient robot-god lying around, I'd say they could easily defend themselves, and let the other nations tear each other to shreds.

There's a difference between being able to successfully conquer others and living in a craphole province noone else wants.

edit - I forgot to add that I think the Altmer would win in a one on one fight with any race in the game, so I voted for them. The Aldmeri Dominion isn't 100% behind the Thalmor, and they still managed to almost bring the entire Empire down. If Cyrodiil hadn't been able to call on the Nords for help there is no way they would have won against the Altmer.

Yes because Reman did what ....?

They have the best army in Tamriel and are one if not the most dense populated (more troops) country in Tamriel...

I mean it's not like Cyrodiil is the seat of an empire that conquered Tamriel more than once .

Cyrodiil is still able to take over provinces by itself. Heck, all Bloodlines (Septim, Reman, Alessia, etc.) conquered most of the provinces when Cyrodiil was only just a single province by itself.
