Framerate rapidly decreasing as I play

Hey guys,

I have recently reinstalled and started playing Skyrim again, but I'm having the following issue:

When I boot Skyrim up, my framerate is usually pretty acceptable (~45) with settings somewhere between high and ultra (no AA). However, after running around for a bit or even just standing still and not moving the camera, my framerate starts to drop, and drops fast to below 30 (and in some instances to below 20).

To try and see if this was mod related, I removed all mods with the exception of SkyUI, but my framerate didn't change, which I find strange considering I use Skyrim HD lite and the official HD texture DLC. I then put all the settings onto "Low" to see the effect of that. When I booted up Skyrim my framerate went to 60, but most concerning of all, it started to decrease as I played a little, and continued to decline to below 30.

Other mods/programs aimed at improving performance include:

  • ATTK PowerLoader lite
  • FPS Background Booster (available on Nexus, made by Ceipher)
  • Skyrim Stuttering Fix (on Nexus, made by Kegetys)
  • TuneUp 2014 Utilities set to Turbo mode (disables background tasks)

Additionally, on the Nvidia control panel I've set most things to the performance option, turned off Vsync, allowed threaded optimisation, set pre-rendered frames to 4 etc etc.

However, none of this seems to have made a major difference. I've not tweaked virtual memory because I'm concerned I'll do something bad to my PC (I've got an SSD and a regular hard drive, I don't want to deprive either of memory)

Can anyone give any advice?

My specs are:

Intel i7 2670QM

Nvidia GTX 570m

4GB Ram

Thanks in advance

Chris

Have you considered that's those utilities running at the same time with skyrim is the culprit of your frame-rate drops. ????

For example TuneUp 2014 utilities. Because they say it's improves performance, you thing you can throw every performance improving program in your laptop. ?????

------------------

ATTK : -> Generally what the program does is shut down background programs while your game is running to let it go faster.

and TuneUp Utilities does the same thing....

------------------

Have you tried skyrim with no background utilities at all. !!!!! (in a decent resolution ????)

See here what frame-rates you will eventually get with your GPU: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-570M.56635.0.html

-----------------

Keep in mind that all those background running utilities are ram and CPU demanding. (And you run skyrim at the same time, so not a good idea if you ask me)
