Argonian accents

Inspired by the threads that discuss the Khajiit's first/third person discrepancy between the TES games.

In Morrowind, the Argonians seem to have a somewhat primitive and weird way of speaking. In Oblivion, they sound a little more civilized (but still have a very coarse voice tone) but somehow in Skyrim, they sound pretty much human, and as a matter of fact (for the male Argonians at least) they almost sound... intelligent, like there's a scholarly tone to their speech.

So what do you think of this? Are the Argonians actually evolving between the games? Developer oversight? 11/11/11?

What do you think an Argonian's accent would actually sound like?

I think it should be very hard to tell what they're thinking, as their minds are very alien to the ehlnofey-derived peoples.

Morrowind Argonians had thick accents and used idioms unique to them. That doesn't mean they were less intelligent. According to the stats, they were the third most intelligent race. It suggests that most of them are less fluent in Tamrielic than other races. This is likely because large parts of Black Marsh weren't under the Empire's direct influence, because a lot them were slaves who didn't communicate with many people besides other slaves and because their mother tongue isn't related to those of the rest of Tamriel. Whereas many of the Argonians in Leyawiin have probably been part of Imperial society for generations.
