I think if I start buying pc games (soon hopefully) my normal method would be very similar to yours: all the action, fps-type games would be with a controller.

I used an xbox controller because keeping my fingers on the wasd combination made my hand go numb (after about 10 minutes already). But a few months ago I bought a better keyboard and oh my god, gaming is so much easier! Now I really enjoy playing an archer in Skyrim, because aiming with a controller is terrible.
Then you would be literally gimping yourself completely, keyboard is better than controller at all times, playing an FPS with a controller when you can use a keyboard is suicide.
for me, when I've used friends computers it isn't about accuracy or ease, it's about me clicking on something. there's no skill involved and I feel like i'm not only cheating, but, again, the disconnect is unbearable.
like I've said, I don't play online fps games. and, i dominate single player fps games with my controller. so, exactly, how am i gimping myself?
as well, you call me gimping myself and i call the point and click inability to fail cheating, so, we're at an impasse.
that is not "cheating" it is HOW the game is designed, HOW is that cheating?
like i purposefully said, I I I look at it as cheating.
why? it's fail-proof. sorta like modern day gaming.
where's the skill in clicking on a point on the screen?
for me, it's a huge cheat.
now, if you're talking about rts and other games then i don't think it's cheating.
but, pointing on a target on-screen and clicking to hit a target is not a skill and is a laughable cheat in my book.
for me, you see
edit: as well, whether or not something is in a game and is allowable has absolutely no bearing on whether or not i feel something is cheating or an exploit. pretty straight forward if you ask me.
Got a xbox controller recently (to play locally with another player, mainly) and tested it with quite a few games. walking and controling you character feels a lot more natural on the controller than on keyboard, but it will never beat the mouse when it comes to aiming.
so....computer games in general are cheats,,, because that is how EVERY FPS computer game in existence plays, same with every action combat game, really. so action combat in general is cheating in your view.
You're not clicking on a point in the screen, there's no cursor you place at your target. You have to aim with the crosshair, so there's still aiming and not just point and click.
Never played Skyrim on PC. However, considering my past experience with Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, or any first person game on PC for that matter, I'd say if I did have Skyrim on PC I'd definitely use mouse and keyboard. It's just down right better to use for a first person game, and it definitely shows when playing Fallout 3 in comparison to a controller.
Most games I use a PS3 controller, whether I'm on PS3 or PC. Only games I prefer M/KB are RTS/TBS games like Command and Conquer or Warcraft (not WoW) or Civ. Just the precision tuning of the thumbs is so much more adept to me in FPS (and 3PS) games (along with MMOs), it's just more natural feeling.
And I have no problem owning KB/M purists.
M'aiq prefers using a Xbox Controller for his Xbox and PC.
yes, i would never buy a fps computer game because i would feel like i'm cheating (though, again, the superiority of the m/k is laughably overrated.) and the mouse/key is a horrible disconnect.
Hot-hot-hot keys!
Mouse & Keyboard are superior imo and allow me to seamlessly switch between weapons, shouts, and spell without having to use menus. There are occasions once your fill up the hot keys, buy i would hate to play this this game without them.
I could never play like this with a controller.
