Missing out!

Post » Wed Jan 22, 2014 2:15 pm

If you're anything like myself I absolutely love playing Skyrim and did Oblivion before that, yet I am a real person in the real world. so usually only have time for say an hours gaming in the evening to unwind!

I reckon this is the case for many intrepid explorers even though we hate to admit it aye?

Don't get me wrong I love every second I spend in the world of Tamriel and as a result I find it hard to pull myself away from it in order to try other games. So am I missing out really? It kinda' feels like I am but then maybe Skyrim is all the game I need.

Does anyone else feel like there missing out on other games because of Skyrim or are you happy to let it dominate your play time?

Would be interested to hear your views guy's cheers

Nope. I have tried several games, even a couple of new ones on the new xbox one, and find myself comparing them to Skyrim. Skyrim is the game I play. The others do not interest me. The others do not draw my attention like Skyrim. The others are not like Skyrim. In Skyrim I can be want I want to be, do what I want to do, when I want to do it.

That's me, I only get an hour or so to game at night and most of the time it's Skyrim since release night. I briefly took a break to play GTA 5 but I haven't beaten it and still prefer Skyrim as it's more my style. I guess if I had more time to play then I might mix it up more with other games but in the little time I get, I'd rather spend it playing Skyrim...also 1 hour in Skyrim feels like 10 minutes :P

I cycle between Bethesda's games. I play Skyrim for a few months, I play Oblivion for a few months, I Morrowind for a few months. Then it's back to Skyrim again.

I don't feel like I'm missing much. The Elder Scrolls games are the only games that hold my interest for longer than a few days. Last year I bought Guild Wars 2, the new Tomb Raider and Alice: Madness Returns, but all of them sit abandoned on my hard drive while I play Skyrim. And Oblivion. And Morrowind.

Just attempt to play Ride to Hell: Retribution Sir and we'll chat later.

Make it past 45 minutes and you get a cigar.

46 minutes and it's two cigars.

Oh of course I don't limit myself to beth games, I hardly see the point of limiting myself to one game. Currently Fire Emblem: Awakening, Sins of Solar Empire, and Masters of Orion 2 are taking most of my freetime, of course I always come back to Skyrim and Oblivion, just as I will to any game that I enjoy.

Needless to say,http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/a487/berret1111/games_zps7219a43c.png lot of http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/a487/berret1111/games1_zps31ac5ac3.png, and that's just http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/a487/berret1111/desktop_zpsc6e08047.png

Dear gods man! You don't offer someone that game, that's taking it too far!

I don't have many games and the thing I know is that I don't find newer games much interesting. So, if I don't play Skyrim, I play http://store.steampowered.com/app/9800/ at the moment. I no longer buy games, beside the ES ones.

I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse, but I am very particular about video games, books, movies, etc. and so find it hard to break into new franchises. I'd actually heard of TES some time ago, and shortly after Skyrim came out I noticed the publicity it got and decided to buy it. I fell in love with the game (it even converted me to first person perspective), and I still enjoy playing it now.

Because of my limited scope I don't own many other games, but I do tend to switch up what I play. I only really get time to play at the weekends, so one day I might be watching a Lets Play, or nosing around the Nexus and suddenly want to play Skyrim, so I play that over the weekend. I might then see a forum discussion about another game I own and suddenly get the desire to play that one. So I do switch my games up, and a Skyrim is (and probably will be for a while to come) included in that.

In terms of missing out on other games, I think my reluctance to try new franchises does limit me in ways, but generally it isnt too big an issue since the games I do buy and and play are ones I'm 90% certain I will love.
My advice to the OP would be to keep an eye out on game previews/reviews/Lets Plays - research new games and see if they're the type you might enjoy, and if so buy them and given yourself a few hours to test them out. You might just find you love them as much as Skyrim.
