Simply another world?

Yesterday I was making my way toward Riften for the first time when I stumbled across a place you may know it or not called the abandoned prison. It was an an old ruined fortress surrounded by ruined tree;s and an over flowing river. When you enter the fort and through further investigation you discover that a storm had ravaged the fort and killed both guards and prisoners alike. Most of this was shown through the many corpses littering the ground and the obvious storm damage to both the fort and the wooded area around it.

It was at this point I started to think that well I don't think I've ever played a world so well realised and immersive as Skyrim or another Elder Scrolls game.

The environmental storytelling both in content and visuals throughout Skyrim I think is simply second to none.

I posted recently about being unable to play anything other than skyrim and well I think it's because I'm so damned svcked in!

So my question to you Skyrim forum is can you name another world you think is more immersive than Tammriel?

Cheers guy's always nice to generate discussion

Nope I can't, which is which is one of the reasons I keep coming back. Other games have given it a shot but none have resonated with me like Tamriel since Morrowind even Redguard had it to some extent.

I can't think of another such world, either. Though, from what I've seen, the upcoming Dragon Age world might give it a run for it's money. Other than that, nothing comes to mind.

Beside the obvious Lord of the Rings world, the books of course, I can't recall any other world more gripping than the Elder Scrolls one, but I'm far from having played all the existing video games. (Psst, one "m" only to Tamriel. ;))

All of the above. The key point here is there are some great games out there, but to find one that has the kind of replay value that Skyrim has is in my opinion non-existant. So many different ways to play this game, which in turn keeps it fresh, which in turn keeps all of us coming back.

My thoughts are well. The world of the Elder Scolls is on equal footing with Tolkien's Middle-Earth. They both have such a great depth to them that you cannot help but to keep coming back.

I would say the Elder Scrolls series as a whole, not just Skyrim. I know Morrowind's graphics are very outdated now, it has been ten years since the game came out after all, but I still find myself playing now and then. If only to explore parts of the world or spend a few hours, real life hours, in game reading through some of the books.

The same is true of Skyrim too of course. And the fact that I can actually put books in bookshelves now... well that makes things much easier at least.

True. I can agree to an extent. Skyrim is the only ES game I've really played. So I can only really comment on this game.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Personally, I have yet to play a game series that lets you be who you want to be like TES so, nope.

It's pretty much across the river/falls from Fort Amol. East of Whiterun near the border of Eastmarch.

Or you can get there from Windhelm. Follow the road south along the river. You'll come to Mixwater Mill. Just past that the river splits, one part heading south the other west, keep following the river west and you'll be there.
