Strange snow veil sanctum bug happens elsewhere..?

Hi everyone that is interested,

I have a character that had a lot of difficulties with the thievesguild quest.

Had to use the console many times to progress, missing essential gameparts.

In snowveil sanction there was no karliah, so no poisonshot. setstage tg05 60 brought me outside and dialog with Karliah followed.

After going to Markarth to calcelmo, i killed the spider to get into the museum without tresspassing.

When i was in the excavationsite, i was not able to cut the spiderweb to start the lost expedition quest, so i walked out to go to talk to calcelmo that the spider was killed. When talking to calcelmo suddenly i fell down slowly and was teleported to snowveil sanctum. No mercer, no karliah, just stuck. I could load every game i wanted.

Now, every save with that character i start, after a few minutes, the same thing happens, and i cannot continue playing. Console tg05 60 again gave me the poisons that karliah gave me, but no Karliah. tg05 200 completes the quest, but does not solve the issue.

Did someone encounter this, and found a solution?

My other characters do not seem to be influenced by this behavior.....

There is a lot more to advancing a quest than setting a quest stage. If you look into the guts of the game, the queststages are really just a mechanism that the game uses to keep track of where in the quest you are, not the mechanism that actually moves quest events forward. It would be like moving the hands on a clock and expecting the time to be whatever you set it to.

So, you generally make things worse by using setstage commands as you are not setting all the other conditions and flags that are needed, nor are you engaging the scripts that need to be run with most quests.

So, load up a save from before you started this quest and try it again.
