Pure Crafter Class?

Post » Sat Jan 25, 2014 8:21 am

Hello ,

In the past when I played at a mmorpg of Star wars I remember to have found surprisingly a person in the town that had a private home places somewhere in the desert and was actually a crafter and built stuff, so after telling me this she brought me toher home and showed me a lot of stuff , not finding what I wanted she crafter it for me ... then said that's the way she enjoyed the game, crafting stuff and selling things and that made it so to meet the needs and desires of the other players , paid others to bring her materials and raw elements and then she crafted creating new items and selling at more vantageous prices with more customized options ....

Will something like that be present in TESO?

I don't think it will be there as a defined class - but it will be a player 'lifestyle' choice.

You will be able to follow a number of crafting professions.

I'll be the same wandering seller of marmalade (or nearest similar item) I have been since Daggerfall.

I don't see how it could be a class as class is related to your combat style and how can that relate directly to crafting? Will a provisioner throw pies? All the crafts assist combat in some way with the goods they produce..

if they made a dedicated crafter class you would have to make it so nothing they made would be BoP. i am fine with this as it seems many want to just craft but for me i would just use it as a way to self craft everything

You can focus on crafting but im not sure you can roleplay a crafter like you could in a real sandbox.

SWG concept was brilliant.

I don't see it listed as a preset "Class", but I don't see why you couldn't do a pure Crafter class.

From what I've seen from the Devs statements on how the Skills work; you'd decide what crafting skills you'd like to make your character's "career". Then you'd go out and harvest the materials and only craft your chosen profession's goods. that would cause only your Crafting Skills to go up, and you'd only have to spend Skill points in Crafting Skills.

Get those Skills high enough and I'd bet that other players would make you wealthy wanting some of your finely crafted goods. :D

But I don't think it would be too difficult to make a pure crafting character.

Not going to happen, all crafting stuff is just their own skill line that everyone has. It is also unlikely it would be worth focusing in the first place, as you still need to get enough XP to level so you can get skill points, as well as likely need to go find sky shards. Then there is the fact that everyone can craft basic stuff, so you would never get the amount of people needed to actually get enough stuff to even do anything useful.

These posts also have merit.

SWG is considered by many to have been the best crafting system, for a number of reasons, yet game companies never try to duplicate it. I don't get it.

The best thing about SWG crafting was that a hundred different people could make the same item and they would all be different quality, so that when you shopped, you weren't just looking for the lowest price for the item you wanted, you were also looking at quality. This, and being able to put our names on the item, enabled crafters to build a reputation within the community. Oh you want bone armor? Buy from Kreig, he makes the best. I thoroughly enjoyed hunting down high quality mining nodes and making deals with other players for materials or to sell my armor in their shops.

I dont think youll get an answer to this because it could breech the NDA, i hope you can play how you want but i would assume that you would sitll have to play the traditional way and quest and kill things for xp, i could be wrong
