I didn't know that I didn't like my character.

Have you guys ever experienced an RP that turned your character into something that you don't like or something that no longer interests you?

EX: I've been RP'ing a character who was seemingly my favorite character thus far. After an up bringing of bullying and racist Orc comments while training to be in the imperial army, he was "saved" when members of the DB killed everyone in the camp. He was so enthused that his tormentors were all meeting their demise that he joined in on the slaughter and even saved a member of the DB. For this he was spared. He is now an Orc with a dream of starting a branch in the DB that consists of entirely Orcs.

He's been so much fun to play, and i never lost interest... until I did...

let me explain, with his RP I would slowly work through the DB story-line while also going to Orc strong holds and observing possible recruits and building alliances and friendships. While doing the later he met Borgakh the Steel Heart. He gained her trust, made her a follower, and eventually married her.

Now my Orc hasn't been as much fun to play since he starting using a follower.

So now I've found that I'm still interested in his story, but I'm no longer interested in his gameplay.

however if something were ever to happen where he would need to make a sacrifice to prove his loyalty to the DB I think my Orc would make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure his dream comes to reality.

So kill the follower, the ebony blade would love to taste her blood.

Tbh, most of my characters get boring to me once they do something not "In character".

I make sure that I am 100% in love with my character before I continue. I also like to take breaks between sessions, as it makes what I do more immersive. I try not to do anything out of character. For instance: my character Olfrid despises Argonians. During a stay in Rifton, he was forced to sleep in Beggars Row because the inn is run by an Argonian family. I also don't allow my characters to be dragged into any quests that they would never do.

I can usually tell if I'm in love with my character during Helgen.

well thats the thing, i'm trying my best to stay "in-character" because i know if i break RP i'll completely lose interest. The gameplay for this character just isnt as fun with the follower/wife, so i need to wait for an opportunity to present itself to "ditch" Borgakh without breaking RP.
