Both NCR and Powder Gangers are hostile

Post » Sun Jan 26, 2014 12:48 am

I'm very early in the game, having completed Ghost Town Gunfight and halfway through My Kind Of Town. I just left the Powder Gangers jail after talking to Meyers about becoming sheriff for Primm. I tried to start I Fought The Law quest but Eddie kept going hostile every time he saw me regardless of me wearing Powder Ganger armor, maybe because I sided with Cobb and helped Goodsprings? I reloaded a save and fast traveled back to Primm where NCR soldiers are suddenly hostile including Lieutenant Hayes who I never even spoken to. Wtf?

The *Ganger disguise doesn't work on Eddie, as I recall most of the Faction officers/higher ups can see through disguises. Once the PG's are angry I don't think you can *fight the law* when your vilified by the *Gangers. Hopefully you have an earlier save? Just a tip, but I always make 2 or 3 just to make sure I don't save over another character(lost a few guys that way before I learned to pay attention to the save slots lmao.

Maybe I should have helped the PG's before saving Goodsprings? I think somehow the game still recognized me as wearing the PG armor even though I removed it before fast traveling to Primm. I had to shoot my way out of Primm killing only a few insignificant NCR soliders, waited 3 days and re-equipped a neutral armor just to be sure. This seemed to remove NCR's hostility at least. Only other save I have is me leaving Doc Mitchell's for the 1st time.

Yes you can do all the missions for the PG's up to *fighting the law* then if you go back and do goodsprings your only out/losing 1 more mission. There are a lot of options with quest timing, since your just starting out. I advise first rule *have fun* figure out what you like and how things work best for your character, some of my characters have never even helped goodsprings and I am still out running around lol. One great thing about this game, between the different endings, the huge amount of different characters you can make, you can literally play this game for years. (I have played it way too long lol) and that's on 360, if you get pc and all the cool mods, you could be lost in Vegas for a very very very long time:D......

You can do Ghost Town Gunfight and still do I Fought the Law, just don't kill any Powder Gangers (you can still help out by shooting them, just don't kill them) or kill them stealthily. That way you only develop a shunned reputation with them rather than vilified, allowing you to speak to Eddie fine. It's usually what I do.

You want to do ghost town gunfight up until the battle (or stealth kill only during fight) go to prison and start quest with Eddie up until you can warn powder gangers or help ncr in attack but don't do any until you free beagle from the bison Steve and talk to him about a sheriff.

Head back to prison and speak to meyers about becoming sheriff, fast travel to ncr mojave outpost and get pardon for meyers (requires 20 or 30 speech)

Then your free to murder all powder gangers in the prison attack/goodsprings battle

Nice tips! Just for fun, I made a save and chose the NCR to regulate Primm. After days of waiting, I killed a few bandits trying to claim the Primm casino as their own but Nash never left the casino to sale me any new goods. I even fast traveled back to Goodsprings just to wait a few more days and everyone's still at the casino. Possible glitch maybe?

Its usually three days after the ncr deserters event in the casino that you can start gambling there... not sure if there's a certain progress trigger point in the game though, id suggest checking the wiki. For me personally I've never had problems with primms residents going back to normal once I've put a sheriff in place.

Sounds like it. They usually clear out of the casino as soon as the new sheriff is selected. And the NCR is your worse choice as far as candidates goes. Because of the taxes that they levy on the residents, Nash feel obligated to charge more for everything you but from him. With Meyers in charge, he gives you a discount.

This worked out great! Only thing, why does it still say I'm 'villified' at the NCR jail if I helped the NCR liberate it from the PG's? Shouldn't it be marked as NCR territory now? And why do I still get bad karma when I loot the place even though we just wiped out the whole prison?

It has to be some overlooked glitch then. I heard Nash sells more expensive but better merchandise if you have Mcgee take over as sheriff. After fast traveling away from Primm and waiting a week in game to see if Nash would leave the casino, I reverted to an earlier save and went with Meyers.

You are still marked as villified at the prison as its still classed as a powder gangers hideout, they will still spawn in the surrounding areas though, it doesn't change for some reason... meaning there is no real good time to loot the place without negative karma sadly (like much if the game)
