Everyone is trying to conquer Tamriel

Post » Sat Jan 25, 2014 9:37 pm

Am I the only one who has noticed this? Every single game involves some entity that is trying to conquer Tamriel, and you must stop it. In Arena it was Jagar Tharn. In Daggerfall it was the guys who wanted Numidium active. In Morrowind it was Dagoth Ur. In Oblivion it was Mehrunes Dagon and Mankar Camoran. In Skyrim, it might be Alduin. Maybe. Skyrim is a deviation on a lot of things.

Anyways, the point is that everyone is trying to conquer Tamriel, and the player is always the one to stop it. I suppose Nirn really is The Arena.

Tharn already had control, and if I recall Daggerfall correctly, they were really more interested in securing more power in the region rather then trying to oust Uriel. Dagoth was a bit of an odd job, but his end goal wasn't exactly conquering Tamriel. Mankar didn't seem to have any desire actually ruling Tamriel rather then bringing it back to what he thinks is its rightful place and Alduin is...Alduin.

That said, according to some cut dialogue from Miraak, you can add him to the list.

...Which makes the LDB Shor. More support for the "LDB Shezarrine" theory.

Highlighting mine. I'd say spreading a disease that enslaves everyone to you and basically allows you to usurp the Dream fits squarely under "conquering Tamriel".

I suppose it's the most fun to kill things in the Mundus than anywhere else because it's the coolest place in the universe, take that how you will. :tops:

You can also add Akvir to you list: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Mysterious_Akavir

Dagoth Ur mentions how he'll conquer Tamriel with the use of his Numidium whose name I can't remember.

Akulakhan?

As far as I remember, he wasn't sure what to do with the rest of Tamriel yet.

I remember that, because I actually wondered about it.

He wanted Morrowind.

Well, Dagoth Ur was essentially nega-CHIMing and I wouldn't be surprised if he was interested in forcing his way into becoming the Godhead, so full conquest doesn't seem out of the question of wondering.

Yeah. That's because there was one big questionmark above my head when I listened to his dialogue in Morrowind.

He actually really says that he isn't sure what to do when he incorporated Morrowind into his dream...

I think this meme of Dagoth UR "Nega-Chiming" is way exaggerated anyway. Yes, one could theoretically lead Dagoth Ur's plans to such an extreme. Metaphysically, it should be possible. But not only did this not seem to have been his plan, what's more is that in practical terms it's impossible, since really every single last soul would have to be absorbed - including all Daedric Princes, all Divines, all Star Orphans, Magnus, the Ideal Masters, all skins of previous kalpa, hell, even Anu and Padomay themselves. So, in practical terms impossible and not what Dagoth Ur had in mind anyway.

Souls equal power in TES, imagine if Dagoth Ur had every single soul in Mundus under his control. Nothing could stop him, he would become the most powerful being in existence.

Every single soul in Mundus... versus every single soul in Oblivion, every single soul in Aetherius, every single soul in between the realms and times (the Star Orphans)? Oh, and every single soul currently in the Dreamsleeve, too. The dead surely outweight the living. So, yeah... no.

All day.

Thinking of a way to fit Miraak into The Story of Aevar Stone-Singer again, now.

A process about we know too little to fully comment. What does "go to their aligned AE" mean? But okay, even if we discount the dead, the rest of my point stands - all the spirits in Oblivion and Aetherius might well outnumber all the spirits (souls) on Nirn.

A soul needs to be "strongly" aligned with an AE for his soul to belong to him, they are mostly Daedric Princes. If not, welcome to the Dreamsleeve.

The Numidium is considered the most powerful weapon in existence. The Akulakhan is it's brother, built instead for incorporating the world into Dagoth-Ur's dream. I have little doubt that by the time Dagoth-Ur has every soul in Tamriel under his power, he would have conquered Mundus and then turned his power against the denizens of the various realms of Oblivion. Could he absorb the Daedric Princes and the Magne-Ge right off the bat? I doubt it. However, he would find a way.
