I was thinking of getting a companion mod, Inigo or Vilja?

I've decided to spice up this play with a nexus follower companion, which one would you suggest? Inigo or Vilja and why?

Neither. Wait for me to make a follower mod... jk...

I voted Vilja because I don't know who Inigo is.

I also don't know who Inigo is. I had to look the mod up. Doesn't appeal to me so I'd say "No" to that one.

My favorite Skyrim companion mod is Vilja. In my opinion video game companions - modded or professional - do not get any better than Vilja. Emma has been making companion mods since 2002 and she is a mistress of her craft.

My second favorite companion mod is http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/28941/? by Sulteric Drums. Anybody who has played the old Baldur's Gate game will recognize that name and have a pretty good idea what to expect.

I recently played http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48745/? by ddproductions83 and had a blast. The companions Allune and Dhalia are hilarious. They're two of the funniest companion NPCs I've ever spent time with. And the voice acting is outstanding, better than most of Bethesda's voice acting. As a bonus, I thought the story and the quests were interesting and inventive. I can't wait for the next episodes. [Note: Allune and Dhalia can get a little raunchy at times, so these companions may not be for everybody.]

Why not both? They aren't incompatible even if neither of them will end up talking to or about the other.

Both have their flaws because of the game engine limitations. You can justify Inigo's repetitive and out-of-place comments due to his history with skooma while Vilja is just young and flighty.

Both are also distinct personalities, so really your choice should come down to what you're looking for in a sidekick. Inigo has a grittier feel that better fits Skyrim, but many consider Vilja a relief from the otherwise depressing environment. They both have a great sense of humor although Vilja's is a bit lighter (at least partially due to Terry Pratchett's influence). Vilja has a few more technical bells and whistles because she's been around longer and is developed by an experienced team. The current version of Inigo is from a single, first-time, but extremely talented modder. A major update for Inigo is in the works which will bring him even closer to Vilja in scope.

If you're planning to focus on the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood quests, then I would say Inigo is the better choice. Vilja's feels more at home over with the Companions in Whiterun.

Inigo has better interactions with the animal followers, while Vilja loves to chat with the NPC followers. Inigo mocks poor Lydia while Vilja sings duets with her and that pretty much sums up the difference in their personalities.

What I do know is that having either (and both) of them along makes the game much better even for those of us who like to think of ourselves as a lone wolf. I can't bring myself to choose between my great-great grand daughter and my new best friend. So any choice except Neither is perfectly good.

P.S. Pseron Wyrd, you really should give Inigo a try.

I can't stand Vilja's voice, but I am not accustom to the Swedish accent.

We all know Vilja is some kind of superstar, and no follower can touch her.

BUT.... Inigo is actually a really good companion with excellent - I would even go as far as saying fantastic - voicing, and most of the the time really, really funny and worth listening to. Granted, he looks a bit awkward, a blue Khajit. And the way you make his acquaintance is a bit meeehhh.... So he will probably not please players who value lore-friendliness and hardcoe-ness above everything. OK I give you that. But if you are not dead serious about such thing and just take him along, you will discover that his character is not a joke at all. He is actually pretty profound.

So I definitely encourage you go give him a tryout. He also works flawlessly well in all technical respects. The author gained some best-mod-of-the-year for it. I can definitely understand why he got it...

I recommend to use SMF - Simple Follwer Mod by kuertee to control him. This is also recommended by the author. But UFO and AFT is also good. I tried them all. I switched to SMF for all my follower needs. It's just the newest and made by a most reputable author. You certainly remember kuertee from Oblivion, do you not? He knows his stuff.

i used Hoth follower,

and it was pretty terrible tbh. no offense. He reminded me of my friends dad.

I still haven't found where inigo is in the game world. so until then, im using interesting NPC follower, those aren't as detailed but they have good characters

Inigo is in the Riften jail. And yeah, he is the best follower of any TES game by far.

I don't usually use followers but gave Inigo a shot a few months ago.

Simply put, Inigo is an amazing follower. Voice quality is excellent and the author's attention to detail in breathing life into Inigo is quite something. I recommend playing around with both for a bit before deciding whether to drop one or the other. Also as cdcooley stated, I'm sure both can be used at the same time just fine.
