Do you use Alchemy?

Post » Mon Jan 27, 2014 9:23 am

Some of my characters do Alchemy, some of my characters don't do Alchemy. As with pretty much everything else in roleplaying, it depends on the character.

I really think Alchemy needs to be revamped in the next game, to make it easier to use, less inventory-cluttering.

But knowing BGS, "Revamp" means "gut it out entirely". So I am leery about that...

Use it for the Restoration loop to get unlimited shouting.

Never found a use for it. I can honestly say I really only ever use Potions of Healing, Magicka, and Stamina. It's not worth investing in to just get rich. I find so much good loot plundering, I end up with thousands of gold before I know it.

Depends on the character really. my main one used it a few times, mostly for poisons or restore health.

I used it quite a bit in my previous two playthroughs, but this time, I decided on absolutely no alchemy or enchanting. I like it this way. It really makes it that much more satisfying when you actually FIND a powerful potion/poison or a piece of equipment with a nice enchantment on it, instead of simply crafting either of them.

I have 3 characters, and each of them have two out of the three crafting skills maxed (alchemy, smithing, enchanting)

Enchanting, well, it depends on how OP you want to be :P Enchanting is the skill I personally find it easiest to do without, and I don't think I've ever fully perked it, not even on my pure robes mage. I usually use all skills more or less, but only perk one seriously, and put only one or two perks in the others. The good thing with Enchanting is of course that you can make sure you have a full set of Fortify gear for Alchemy and Smithing, at least a set that will do until you begin to find the Eminent/Extreme/Peerless stuff. But if you perk Alchemy all the way and skip Enchanting, your potions will make up for all those enchantments you otherwise would have put on your clothes/armor.

I always want to use it, but I completely forget about it and ignore it then. The highest I got to alchemy was 58 :(

Where is the option that it depends on the character?

Cause I use it, but for specific builds. Nothing else.

As like others here, I only use it for the resto loop as well. Aside from that, I never really use it. I would like to do a character like relies heavily on it though.
