How often do you enchant?

Post » Mon Jan 27, 2014 11:50 pm

Enchanting is second nature for me. I always grind early after getting daggers from smithing grinding. Just recently I've gotten into skill enchanting. I've made a set of stalrhim armor called the Dragonbrand armor along with a 40 percent one hand/archery ring and I 2 arrow hagravens on expert. I've got a true nord with dragon plate enchanted the same way

I have never enchanted. I did not enchant in Morrowind or Oblivion either.

I probably do more disenchanting than enchanting. That and recharging my weapons are what raises my enchanting skill the most. Only once in over 2000+ hours have I gotten enchanting to 100 on one of my characters.

Like Myst I tend to do more disenchanting and charging than enchanting... except on the one enchantress I played... she enchanted everything and got her skill to 100 very quick. She was a damage sponge, but didn't deal a lot out.

I've used enchanting on almost all my characters going all the way back to Morrowind. One feature I've always liked about TES games is being able to enchant your own gear(though I wish we had more spell effects now)

Very little. However, over the years of playing TES have I slowly been getting into it. But it has mainly been with jewelry for added bonuses.

When I want to make insane weapons and armor.

Which I do when I'm powerful enough to make stuff better than, lets say... Deathbrand.

Most characters do it to some extent, mostly to be able to make sure my characters and followers have boosts that are useful for them. And to make that sweet fortify alchemy and smithing gear. But I rarely perk it much, so it'smore like an extra boost than a powerful tool by itself for me.

My current character is my first of three that hasn't enchanted a single piece of equipment and unless I play a character that specifically specializes in enchanting, I may never do it with any of my future characters. I think enchanting can easily lead to being over-powered, and I've found I prefer the satisfaction of finding an enchanted piece, rather than crafting one.

On a Warrior, My character just disenchants loot when an Arcane Enchanter is nearby to learn Enchants, but the character may never take the time to really Enchant.

My Mages stash Enchanted items and Iron Daggers in a Bag of Holding, and when most Mage Skills are not really working to level the character anymore, all of the Enchanted Items get disenchanted, Iron Daggers, Circlets, and Rings get Enchanted with higher profit Enchants. The Enchanted Gear is sold to Vendor/Trainers to increase Mage related Skills. Enchanting on My Mages is good for a few levels, and tends to result in Mastery in a short time.

I will make items that increase Magicka Regeneration, and I try to get at least 25% in the Schools that use lots of Magicka, like Destrucion and Alteration, and possibly Restoration. I never have bothered with Enchants to lower the cost of Illusion and Conjuration.

Pretty much all of my characters have enchanted, both their own gear and gear for followers. Early game for them is mostly disenchanting items they find, until they can build up a stock of filled soul gems and items to enchant.

I have some characters which do it, but most doesn't. I enchant only if I'm a mage (in that case I count it as magical enchanting as it was intended in the game) or when I have mastered smithing (in that case I count it as "learning smithing beyond the regular smithing" and I enchant only items when I have just created them on forge and as a smith I do not trap souls - only use what I find in dungeons).

I do it if I happen to find a grand soul gem and have a decent enchantment.

I enchant all the time. I find that it's a good way to earn extra money. From exploring you always end up with an abundance of free soul gems of all levels (I do, at least) so I'll just enchant random items and sell them. Enchanting adds quite a lot to an item's base value, for example a necklace I enchanted with fortify archery went up in value by like 1000 gold. Also gives the added bonus of extra levels, which is never a bad thing.
