I've been walking towards Megaton for at least an hour now, I think? To be honest, I’m far too drunk to know if I’m actually heading towards Megaton or if I've even been walking for an hour. But, this is a usual thing for me. Honestly, I’m surprised raiders haven’t killed me by now; I walk around the wastes in a drunken stupor at least three times a week. But is that really a bad thing? I mean there’s some real bad people out here… I’m just a lazy drunk. Ah, enough rambling… get yourself to Megaton Ryker…

I continued walking but after I while I stopped when I heard some unsettling noises, I turned around and my heart dropped. Right there in front of me was a Super Mutant, and a big one at that. I didn’t know what to do, never before had I been this close to one of these monsters before, and I was petrified with fear. Before I could do anything the Super Mutant laughed and raised his arm. I knew what was coming next.

*WHACK*

My eyes shot open and I let out a deep gasp and then a sigh of relief, I was alive. Unfortunately I was locked in a cage in a dark, dank room. Worst of all, I was sober now, and I had a hell of a hangover, or maybe that was just the Super Mutant smoking me in the head, either way it wasn’t pleasant and it hurt like a [censored]. But it didn’t really matter; I was probably going to be eaten alive in a few minutes. There was a slim chance of getting out of this one, and even though I’m in distress, I’m no damsel. No one’s coming to save me; if I’m getting out of this one I’m doing it myself.

Maybe there’s a key in this cell, I mean Super Mutants aren’t known to be smart… Hmm… What’s that… Oh [censored], gross! That’s a [censored] ear… Search is over… Dammit, that thing gonna [censored] eat me… I’d rather be decapitated then eaten! I don’t want to be [censored] out! Oh [censored], he’s coming…

The mutie walked to me and stood in front of the cage, he looked at me, laughed and said “Ha, ha! How’s your head, human?”

I laughed along with him; if there was any chance of me getting out I had to make friends with him.

“It hurts real bad, ha, ha! You sure can hit hard! I bet the other Super Mutants are afraid of you!”

He started to laugh again, “You’re right! But not for my strength, they fear my mind human.”

Of course… Of [censored] course I’d run into the only Super Mutant in the Capital Wasteland with an IQ higher than 5… But then again, maybe he could be reasoned with…

“Ah, I see… Well, then… Is there any chance of you letting me go?”

He started to laugh again, “The cage is not locked.”

I realized that I had not even checked to see if the cage was locked, and I said Super Mutants were dumb… I pushed the cage door and it opened, he had not lied, I walked out and put out my hand for a handshake.

“Hello, my name is Ryker Gage; it’s a pleasure to meet you!”

And again he laughed, “You humans are weird… Now look, enough with the [censored]. I brought you here for a reason… You’re going to do me a favor. You see, I’m not the only Super Mutant with a brain, there’s six of us. We’ve alienated ourselves from the rest of our kind and have made this library our home. But we are tired of living here, we want to be a part of society and I want you to convince your kind to accept our kind.”

Now it was my turn to laugh, “Wait… You’re serious… [censored], well, if I refuse you’ll probably just kill me right now so I guess I’ll help you. But don’t expect anything, they might just think I’ve gone mad and kill me when I propose this insane idea… But, hey, you didn’t eat me so I guess I’ll do this for you. You don’t seem like that bad of a guy anyways.”
