No Epic Scenery II

Post » Tue Jan 28, 2014 2:06 pm

Well its obvious that the graphics look crap , as its from 2004 .

But I have betatested it too and I can tell you the feeling of immensity of the world ( its absurdely huge and real scaled ) its incredible,

Mountains are actually mountains, rivers are river sized and you coudl travel around with a Dragon that flight really realistically , the snow was already at the time 3d deep and cumulated .

The viewscapes where absolutely vast and immense and it really gived the feel of epic scenry everywhere you went .

The other side of the coin is that the rest svcked, poor graphics, poor content , and almoust empty world with basically confusing or no quest at all ...

But the cncept was great , the world was completely seamless and I repeat huge ...

I wish that TESO coudl have used the same technology with their graphics , it would have become the MMORPG of the century.

Just wait until you can try the open beta (assuming there will still be one) if not, then wait until launch, you won't be disappointed with the scenery, they haven't really had that as a focus point for the footage they've released, they've been focused on PvP before christmas, and now PvE, so we may not see many open sceneries until you try it for yourself.

TESO's incredibly short draw distance will definitely be a deal-breaker for some.

BUT!

It is incredibly atmospheric. Unlike Morrowind's wall of fog, this one allows mountains and tall buildings to rise out of it, and in Hammerfell you can see the sun glinting off of gold-plated tower roofs far away in the distance. It really is quite breath-taking at times. Smaller buildings vanish far too quickly for today's standards, as do trees and other environmental decoration. Presumably, that's an occlusion culling trick, and they at least make it look highly atmospheric.

I don't think that there are enough released visuals right now to plausibly warrant a concern over the other 99.9% of the game. There just isn't enough released to infer that there is no Epic Scenery.

Did this thread really need to be continued?

Screenshot preference is a matter of taste. Anyone who could talk about something not seen in screenshots is not allowed to talk about that.

Your best bet is to wait for open beta if you have doubts about the graphics. In any case it's one thing I really don't have doubts about.

Alright, I've wished a couple of posts into the cornfield. If it's not a topic you want to discuss or think has no merit, then isn't bumping the thread just to let the world know your disdain rather a counter-productive action?

And another reminder to not discuss any information you may have gleaned from the beta, if you were in one.

Maybe this isn't the game the OP was hoping for. Everyone's got their own tastes, so long as differences of opinion are discussed civilly this isn't a problem.

You're going on with a second thread about this now? It's pretty simple - if the scenery isn't good enough for you, don't play it. Problem solved. And all of this coming from someone speculating who hasn't even played the game yet. Good grief.

I guess draw distance can be adjusted, their main concern has been to get the game to run on low performance computers.

Note that this might cause large monsters to pop in as they are not sent to you until you get close enough.

Some other complained about field of view in first person, field of view tend to be adjustable, but usually require ini file changes.
