Hey guys. I Just discovered this game over the weekend, and Im about an 11/10 on the excited scale right now.
I was a former WoW player (like 7-8 years ago), FFXI before that. Big time pvper, not so big on raids, at least not the wow style snooze fests that felt more like work than fun... Thats what pretty much drove me away. Well that and the lack of ass I was getting at 20 years old!
Well lifes changed, and Im ready for a great game to absorb my free time again. I absolutely love the open world stuff, mainly pvp, so this game seems like its got a great new approach to it. Absolutely love the Elder Scrolls games as well, and dont think I could imagine a more perfect setting for an MMO than Tamriel.
My question, if anyone has any info on it (and I acknowledge that its probably unknown at this point), is how "gear driven" will this game be? Or in other words, how important is gear going to be? Im reading about this level scaling and whatnot in the PVP area, so Im thinking gear is secondary to skill..?
Will there be other incentives, or will gear be the primary "carrot on a stick" that we'll be chasing? Not that Im even opposed to it, I just really dont want to be mindlessly grinding dungeons just so I can do what I really want to being doing, which is kicking ass in PVP.
Im not saying that all I want to do is PVP, because I absolutely do love doing the dungeons a few times. But what I dont want is to be left in the dust gear wise by the hardcoe raiders who dont mind doing the same dungeon 500 times. Im just not interested in that same disappointment again, that realization that your never even going to be semi-competitive in PVP until you button down and join a raiding guild and waste 40 hours of your life per week doing something thats more monotonous than work.
