Why can't I see my mods?

Post » Wed Jan 29, 2014 3:54 am

So I finally bought a copy of skyrim ( legendary edition ) downloaded NMM and SKSE. Installed SkyUI no problems and it shows in game under "mod configuratior" as does the blood mod.
My problem is I've installed at least 10 mods thru NMM but they don't appear in the "mod configuratior" is this normal and they are indeed there? Mods like quality world map, real vision ENB, Falskaar, ect.
As I just downloaded NMM, SKSE, and Skyui today there all up to date..
Any help/feedback appreciated :)

only mods that make use of the mod configuration menu will appear there (in game). Check NMM or Wrye Bash to see if your mods are actually listed.

Thank you for the quick reply :)
In NMM it shows them along with the green check mark. I assume then ( hopefully lol ) this means they are indeed "in game and running"?

I stopped using NMM long ago, but IIRC, as long as they are checked off under your plugins tab, you should be good to go.

Short answer:

BOSS is a piece of software that makes your mods load in the correct order. If your mods don't load in the correct order you'll have issues, up to and including crashes to desktop.

You need to run BOSS each time you add a new mod.

Ok sorry as I'm not sitting in front of my pc ( at work at the moment ) but ok I'll download BOSS. I use NMM but how does boss know what mods I've got or am using? Do I drag and drop? Does BOSS go in a specific folder? Sorry for all the questions but I don't want to download a bunch of mods and programs then have them all crash. Rather ask you guys, the experts ;)

mod configuration menu is added by SKYUI mod its not part of base game dont get confused only those mods will show in mod configuration menu which supports MCM feature ex. enhanced blood texture has MCM feature so it will show in MCM menu mods like falskaar, quality world map, ENB mods doesnt have MCM support as of now they dont need MCM feature.

Install BOSS just like any other Tool it doesn't matter where you install it it will automatically detect the games you have installed which it has support for currently BOSS supports - skyrim, morrowind, oblivion, fallout3, fallout new vegas, dont know about other games. Boss Database is huge it contains records for majority of mods you may find on internet so dont worry if you have certain mod installed and boss recognise that mod it will sort them out for you. if you know of some mods which boss doesn't recognise report those mods to boss team ( there is a thread here on this forum in mod section )

Thanks for the very thorough answer! I'm extremely new to pc gaming ( bought my rig January tenth ) so mods and how they work all very new and confusing. Thankfully theirs experts like you and the other fine chaps who answered in this thread and I appreciate it!
Yesterday was horrid as I had to delete/reinstall the game three times because I just assumed I could download/install any mod lol.
