3DS - Yes or No?

Post » Wed Jan 29, 2014 4:16 pm

So I'm getting a pretty decent tax return and I'm interested in getting a 3DS. A lot of games look interesting but I just want to know the common consensus and if there is a good line up of future games for the 3DS before I actually make the purchase. I love games from Nintendo, like Animal Crossing and Zelda and the like, but I want to make sure there is a wide variety. If you have gotten a 3DS, do you think its worth it? Do you find yourself playing it often, or only when you travel? Thanks in advance.

Absolutely. 2013 had a great lineup, with a fair amount of variety; though JRPGs were at the forefront. And if you're like me, and never owned a DS, then you have plenty of options thanks to backwards compatibility.

Pokemon and Professor Layton are pretty awesome on the 3DS.

I got a 2DS a few months ago, and played several nicey games with it already (Fire Emblem Awakening, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and others). 2013 was a very good year for it.

That said, there's no announced 2014 game I really look forward to so this year might be a weak year for it but it's hard to tell since it's only January.

There's that, possibly Persona Q, Professor Layton, Yoshi, Kirby, and Super Smash Bros. Of course I'm probably forgetting a few and I'm sure more will be announced.

That's probably the next console I get. I have little interest in anything else besides a Vita, and there's only two games which interest me.

I got a 3DS XL in November and it was well worth it. I mainly got it for Pokemon X/Y and it was really addicting and fun but then I got Fire Emblem: Awakening and it was easily one of the best games I've played in years. The cutscenes for it look incredible and the gameplay is extremely addicting. The story was exciting and kept me hooked from start to finish.

Overall the 3DS has a very strong game lineup (Loz Ocarina of Time HD, A Link between Worlds, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, etc...) and the hardware is a definite step up from the DS.

I was skeptical at first but after buying one I don't regret it at all.
