Crafted Items VS Raid Drop Items Vs Bound Items

Post » Wed Jan 29, 2014 11:52 am

The simple question is - Should items that are crafted by players be the best items in the game that you can find/make, or should the ones that drop off of raid bosses be the best? How powerfull should bound items be compared to regular ones, considering they have an expiration time.

How should loot be split among the drop boss list?

How should bound weapons behave?

Examples of rare raid ingredients would be something along the lines of Daedric Named Grand Soul gems of the dead Boss, Special unique crafting items like "the eye/bone/scale/bodypart of the dead Boss", hard to come by ore/bars like aetherium bars etc.

Top end crafted and raid items should have different but equally powerful stats.

Crafting mats should be a minority of boss loot. (I don't believe recipes are in the game.)

Bound weapons/armor should add something to your equipment rather than completely replacing it.

Didn't vote in poll  Answers I want not available.

If bound stuff would add something to permanent items they would just become mandatory from a raider's POV, much like sharpening stones were for wow weapons in vanilla/or spellpower oils, and it's the reason they got removed.

Haven't really read into what's realisticly going to happen to PvE much, but if you present me the posibilities, I'd choose:

Raid drops should be (slightly) stronger than crafted items. However raid drops should be able to be improved via crafting, preferably by using items that are very hard to obtain. (For WoW players, I'm kinda thinking of how you had to get each part of your T3 set in the original Naxxramas raid, except no tokens.)

Due to this I'd also like to see some of the required materials for these upgrades either of the high-end bosses, or be found near them (them being killed having to be possible for looting said items).

As for bound weapons, I'd say use them as temporary buffs to your weapons or armour. Say you normally have a two-handed sword, then using a bound weapon spell would make this weapon temporarily hit harder or have a special effect (and have a different model).

But like I said: I haven't read into PvE at all really, no idea if this'd be in line with what Zenimax is thinking of.

Not if there's a softcap for armor rating (making it close to/or obselete with end game gear) and shows as a logarithm on a graph rather than growing exponentially/fixed armor rating value.

i feel raid items should always be the best items as they are the hardest to get. i like the idea of raid items being the best but having crafting improve those items even more.
