Can a AD alligned nord become emperor?

Post » Thu Jan 30, 2014 11:09 pm

I'm pretty okay with the removal of faction locks that comes along with pre-orders but there is something about it that has me quite curious...could per chance say, a nord who joins the AD become emperor? As I said all in all I have no problem with this change but it seems a bit odd that the faction dedicated to establishing elven dominance would permit a human on the Ruby Throne.

Words of Queen Ayrenn herself "I would sooner place an altmer infant on the Ruby throne then surrender Tamriel to their capacious whims." Would be interesting to see this on my monitor though.

"The Aldmeri Dominion had captured the Imperial City! Hroag Meadrinker the twenty-ninth, nord of Skyrim has become emperor!!"

I guess Nords are kinda like infants..they seem to just smash everything they touch, and scream a lot when you don't feed them their mead :D And so was born the Marked for Death shout...

It is possible, and one of the many ways that no faction boundaries are ridiculous.

It's as if people think Tamriel's residents are incomprehensibly racist.

He wouldn't be a Nord of Skyrim  He'd be a citizen of the AD, very likely born in their territories. He'd be a Nord of Valenwood, for instance.

The USA has a president of Kenyan descent. Peru had a Japanese president for a while. The various monarchs of England have blood from all over Europe.

Race does not equal nationality ><

Indeed. George I couldn't speak a word of English. He wasn't English, though...Kind of explains why :)

EDIT: Clarification :)

Did you miss the part about elves not caring about where you were born? They care about you being an elf or not.

They don't give a [censored] about your nationality they care about your race and only that. All humans need to submit to the master species.

To me all "racism" is incomprehensible. Nationalism makes sense but not racism. But that's just me. And I grew up in the middle of "nowhere". So I suppose I haven't be "properly" socialized.

I could see the Bosmer and Khajiit not care too much, but I could also see the vast majority of Altmer have a near heart attack at the mere thought and they are the dominate race of the dominion...I could see some internal conflicts among the Altmer and by Altmeri conflicts I mean verbal debates in the Summerset Isles.

So, I take it, then, since the Altmer only care about their race (since they're the superior race, after all), that you think there should never be a Khajiit or Bosmer character who can ever be Emperor?

I'm sorry but if a person or race is inhibiting me from ascending to divinity I'm going to slaughter the uncultured swine and take my rightful place in Aetherius.

Yes, actually. The fact that they can be is because joining as any other race would be pointless, but notice how the Altmer are the bosses.

But at least Bosmer are an elf race.

Seriously, you people have no idea what an acceptable degree of breaking lore is at all.

Letting a Nord emperor be supported by the Altmer is like taking lore and [censored]ting it right into Oblivion. there is not a single high elf who actually likes a Nord that much, since you're stopping us from ascending.

Beast folk don't matter.

So, to sum up your attitude: you are upset that being an Imperial is restricted to those who order the CE, because that's "not fair." But you are perfectly fine with telling players that they can't be Emperor, because they're not playing the correct race.

Yeah, there's a word for this kind of position.

I'm going to assume you've never met Queen Ayrenn, and that's all I can say. NDA

But remember, she traveled widely before assuming the throne. From the official website:

"Queen Ayrenn is intelligent and honorable, with a genuine humility rarely seen among her people but she is also a decisive leader with a stubborn streak. She is young for a High Elf—a mere 28 years old—but she spent much of the first part of her life roaming the lands and seas of Tamriel, seeking adventure and the kind of education schools cannot impart. She returned to Summerset following the death of her father to accept her position as heir to the Altmer throne."

Racism is a theme in many Elder Scrolls games. But if you pay attention to the story, the overall message is not PRO-racist. It's ANTI-racist.

Actually I never said I don't want Nords under the current circumstance to not be emperor. To not let them be emperor would be bull [censored] because they paid extra for that.

What is [censored] is that they have the ability to be a nord in the AD whatsoever.

And you know what's even more [censored]? You people don't give a flying [censored] about lore, which is literally the only reason RPGs exist. Sad to see TES, the symbolic WRPG, take a dump on the lore before the game is even out.

Ayrenn does seem to break the mold from your average Altmer, but one cannot maintain leadership if their people grow too restless...again me thinks a struggle in Alinor may come to pass, curse your NDA!

Though she is also the one who said she'd never put a human on the Ruby Throne...perhaps her opinion changes in-game?

I'm pretty sure you don't know me enough to comment about my giving a "flying [censored] about lore." In fact, I'm the one who's been trying to show you how a Nord in Dominion lands is perfectly plausible under the lore. You, on the other hand, have literally said anyone who plays a Khajiit or Bosmer should never be able to be Emperor, because they're playing the wrong race.

Incidentally, the lore of the game isn't a holy tome. It can be altered when necessary. Altering that lore does not equate to "taking a dump" on it. You might want to stop taking it so seriously.

She said that before she meets the player character. Who solves a lot of problems (not a secret, the player character ALWAYS does). Maybe she changes her mind.

I totally agree with you about this. However, it is not needed to make the argument in this case. The lore is on our side

Because being a racist supremacist totally wasn't one of the biggest appeals of the Altmer.

Any High Elf who would put human in a position of power is a disgrace.

Mmm hmm. I would say more but NDA. Read the various articles in in the Tamriel map though. You'll get a hint.

Ok, look. Elves realize one thing; humans dead = we go to heaven.

What idiot elf doesn't want to go to Aetherius and be a god, exactly? And once you answer that, please tell me what kind of mental illness they're afflicted with?

The Elves going to Aetherius is far more important than every human life out there.

*shrug* You're arguing theoretically. I'm not. But really no point continuing :) We'll take it up again after the NDA is lifted.
