Ordering from the US to the UK

Post » Thu Jan 30, 2014 11:23 pm

Hey guys, so I went on GameStop US site and the Imperial Edition is $99, in the UK it is £89, which is $147.

GameStop US deliver to the UK, with an additional $19.99 delivery fee, but even so, it's over £18 ($29.79) cheaper than the UK version. So the question I'd like to ask is, will the US version work for those of us in the UK?, or any other country where it will be cheaper to do this. And I'm guessing we'll receive it a few days after the actual release date? If so, the £18 saving might be worth it, no?

My previous experience is not, the keys seem to be locked geographically, BUT since we are all playing on the same "server" it probably wont matter. The best bet is to send a ticket in to support and see what they say. Its funny that you are looking into buying in the US, for years i would purchase a lot of stuff from the UK because it was cheaper for me there because of the conversion rate but no more sadly :(

Not sure how this will work, but technically there is an EU megaserver and a US megaserver, but you can switch between.

Thanks for the replies. I've sent a ticket to GameStop asking them about the region lock details and about when it will be delivered. But I've just seen that the early access you get is to download the client online and play, the physical product isn't needed as the key is sent to you via email. So, if there is no region issues with the game, it'll work out perfectly for buyers in the UK, they can play the early access and wait a few days for the other items to be delivered. Sounds pretty perfect.

Lets hope there is no region lock! :)

I would look into getting it from B instead of going through gamestop. I have had issues with them in the past when it came to geting keys and such. Honestly you will probaly be able to find the CE stuff on ebay a day or so after the game releases if that is what you are looking for. Might just be doing yourself a favor and getting it through B so its locked on your account and you dont need to worry about keys your email. just a suggestion.

Yeah, but I want to pre-order the Imperial Edition before they are sold out. Then people will see for alot more on Ebay. But ultimately, I'll buy it from wherever is cheapest. The UK/Europe always get screwed over on the exchange rates...

When I order games transcontinental I know that preorder to product code those cannot mix and match, a product code and preorder code must be EU/EU or US/US..other than that they work okay for me

The only game that the foreign key worked for me was in SWG, i ordered a box from japan for the key code, gave us some holo view headset or something, but the key did go onto my account. Other then that i have heard people having issues being in the UK buying in the states and it not working, kind of like beta keys from the US not working for UK people.

Yes--usually codes are given with a region number somewhere that is both tied to the account on use, and directs which client to download and hence (most likely in this case) the mega server you will be put onto, which makes mixing them nigh impossible
