No, and considering one of World of Warcraft Cataclysmic problems is population imbalance from realm to realm due to no one logically wanting to be the losing side, it only makes to cut out the middle man and randomize Brink's teams every game.

I mean seriously, who ever picked the fat kid in P.E.? If you could choose factions, eventually all of the "good" players would stay on Team X, the people who didn't know that Team X was for the cool kids would get stuck on Team Y, hence, you have team Y perminently getting steam rolled every game.

16 individual characters, each has a separate look for each faction. Your skills stay the same no matter which side you play on. Weapons will look and sound different, but have the same stats.

Tattoos, voice, and body type are chosen when you make a character, and cannot be changed.

Is the body type thing confirmed. Because I saw body type changed in video. And I stand corrected. I guess it's 16 giving you 32 different looks considering both faction appearances.
16. Oh boy. You'd be able to specialize in each class in each body type if you wanted and still have 4 slots left.

I think the bodytypes changing was just a demo thing, kinda like in the original container city vids, Wedgewood had no weapon restrictions, even though he's playing as medium. In the end he uses an AR and a launcher, both medium weapons.

What you are allowed to do is switch characters in-between games, if you find the need to change bodytypes.

... The Side is not Random. The characters you create (16 of them) all have a side you choose also specific clothes etc.. depending on the side. So If you have a really awesome looking security dude with heavily unlocked clothing etcc... wtf do you think will happen if the game forces the char your playing as to switch sides, you cant wear security clothing on the resistance side.
You can change characters between matches (like ShadowCat said)

For their to be some type of random side generating you would have to pick 2 characters, one Resistance and one Security So it changes between each char depending on the side.

I think you're missing the point (I'm sorry if I'm being wrong here, I'm kinda confused).

You have 16 characters, but each character has a look for BOTH sides. So if you change teams ingame for balancing reasons or something, you will keep all your abilities, the same weapons and the same stats, you'll only change clothes.

SD have to stop advertising this game with a too heavy focus on the factions, when talking about multiplayer, I think.

You have factions in Call of Duty as well (TF141, Navy Seals, Spetznas) and get put into one of them each game. The same applies to BRINK.

That's one of my favorite things. 16 characters to develop and they all have 2 distinct looks. Pretty well done system because you set all the looks the way you want. Pick the character you want to play as and it doesn't matter what faction you are because you have a look for either side set up already. Which it appears you can pre-modify that beforehand as well as weapons too.

Yea that is cool. Before I knew you could pick the look for both sides on one char, The idea of changing sides confused me.
