I've got your diplomatic immunity right here!

Post » Tue Feb 04, 2014 6:44 am

I have been putting off the Diplomatic Immunity quest for quite awhile because 1, my idea of diplomacy with the Thalmor is a mace to the face and 2, I don't like giving up my stuff. My character is a walking apothecary with heavy armor and shield, ring of carry weight, Volsung, and several different weapons and bows. Any suggestions for finally doing this quest?

You get your gear back from the wood elf that takes it.

Then you can kill all thalmor in sight...and the ones that hide.

The whole quest is kinda stupid I think. Elenwen would wonder why such a person is there.

hell I went in there once and found General Tullius in there. he should have remembered me as being with the rebels at Helgen LOL.

I'm pretty sure Tullius would remember me. I was sitting next to Ulfric, a man he was keeping an eye on. And my warpaint was still on my face at the party. I looked as out of place there as a talos amulet looks hanging from the neck of an altmer.

I have a lot of characters that end up taking a Break before Diplomatic Immunity, and also Season Unending.

On a character that is the new Archmagister/Harbinger, My character should have already recieved an Invitation on Thier own. Testing the Waters on a New Guild Leader in the Thalmor Embassy in view of the "Movers and Shakers" in Skyrim Society would seem like a good idea for a Diplomat.

Having Tulius approach Our character and asking a few questions or warning Them would have been a nice touch.

Having a Justiciar or two fawning over Our character if Dawngaurd has been completed would have been a nice addition as well, Thalmor definitely hate Vampires and are very good at eradicating Random Spawnings in Game.

That was cut from vanilla game. He's not supposed to be there. For reasons such as the one you just illustrated.

Make sure you have all of the important stuff that you want to carry, and also include lockpicks. Take the kind of stuff you would normally take when going to clean out a small dungeon. Leave room for plunder. You can keep your amulet and ring, (I believe) and basically all you are doing is using the elf for a storage until you step into the back room. When you gather your stuff back up, you will feel better. I know that when I did it, I did not feel right in giving my stuff to the elf, and was very glad to get it back.

When you give your stuff to the elf, you will get them back, and then it will be like going into a small dungeon. Just go slow and save often. Think of all the Thalmor you get to kill.

Good to read this. My first time through I despised the Thalmor at the embassy and wanted to wipe them from the face of the earth. I just didn't get around to trying it. I sure will this time.

Kinda stupid? Who here didn't do a serious eye-roll at Delphine's absurd suggestion that the Thalmor had something to do with the dragons? Beth really reached with this attempt to throw in a "cool infiltration quest", but it just failed on so many levels.

I did, indeed. It made me lose some respect for Delphine. Still, it was a good opportunity to learn more about the Thalmor. In my personal characters history, he's already a high priority target for the Thalmor, but time, a new beard, and some odd clothes, allowed me to slip in.

This only added to my dislike and lack of tolerance towards Delphine.

This quest yeah was very stupid.

OH MY GOD, WHY IS THE GAME HAS LOGICAL FLAW?

Shouldn't all NPC has advance AI of minimal like IBM Whatson but can still run on my grandma compie!

WHY the hell they only spawn a tiny amount soldier on CW. It SHOULD HAVE thousands sandboxed NPC with advance AI appear simultaneously with destructible environment without crashing and bug, and did I mention it should RUN SMOOTHLY on my grandma compie.

/rant end.

Stated goals do not necessarily mean those are the real reason she wanted you to infiltrate the embassy.

Her unspoken goal is likely to see if you can find out if they know who is still around in the blades, and if they know where they are. Self preservation utilizing a patsy trying to find clues about the end of the world...

That's one heck of a reach contradicted by in-game evidence: Delphine doesn't expect you to find actionable intelligence on surviving Blades (the Thalmor by her own admission run circles around the Blades), and sure is surprised to learn about Esbern. Furthermore, a patsy is by definition expendable - which supposedly the Dragonborn is not - highlighting Delphine's stupidity.

I hate to defend Delphine but I'm not entirely sure she believed the Thalmor had anything to do with the dragons, it's possible she only told us to do it so we would find intel on the thalmor or any living blades member.
