Imperial versus standard.

Post » Tue Feb 04, 2014 6:23 pm

Hello everyone!

So I have gotten a biiiit confused about some small bits.

1. A lot of sites say that you get 5 days early access with the imperial edition and 3 with the standard one but on ESO's homepage where you can buy the pre-order they both say 5 days.

2. The imperial order only gives you basically vanity items (and the xp boost rings) right? I personally do not care about the exclusive items as long as they are just for looks.

Well my last question to those of you that have pre-ordered would be... Why did you choose the edition you chose? If you chose the imperial edition then what was the main thing about it that made you go ''I really want to buy the imperial edition because of this!''

Thanks to anyone that is kind enough to answer any of the questions!

It's 3 days early access for standard and 5 for Imperial.

And I chose the Imperial Edition because it didn't cost alot more and I get a statue and a large book with many pages. :)

1- Any Standard Edition purchased on the ESO site directly, gets 5 Days. Any SE purchased through 3rd party is only for 3 Days. Imperial Edition is 5 Days no matter where you get it.

2- The IE adds the Imperial Race as a playable option. That's more important than that vanity stuff.

I purchased the IE because I want to play as an Imperial.

EDIT :

I also chose the IE because it was 25% off at Gamefly and I got the digital version for $59.99.

1.

It's 3 days early access for the physical standard edition.

It's 5 days early access for the physical imperial, the digital standard and the digital impirial editions.

2.

The imperial edition grants you the imperial race, besides the vanity items and the rings of mara. (physical edition also grants statue, map and artbook).

Edit: I went for the Imperial edition because I want all the options.

If you can afford it, I would go with the Imperial Edition. I don't even plan on playing as an Imperial, but still want to be able to do so if I wish.

The reason I went with the Imperial Edition is because of the cool stuff (statue, map, book) that came with the retail version.

Keep in mind that you can upgrade to digital Imperial edition after launch. I'd either get digital standard to save money, or physical Imperial for the book, map and statue. Then again, I don't care about Imperials.

Many retailers offer attractive discounts, so look around before ordering from ESO's website.l

I was going to get the standard edition through Green Man Gaming (got a 25% off voucher), but what really got me was the 5 day early access versus the 3 day early access; I could really care less about the imperial and the horse.

And couldn't they have made it 7 days early access? I mean 5 day early access means I'll be starting the game on a Sunday; I have work the next day! Gah!

There I go again complaining.... I should rename my username "Mr. Complainy Pants."

I ended up with the Standard Edition with -25% from GMG... I was tempted to get the IE just because it was the same price as the SE from the official store, but I had a more serious look at the extra stuff, and they're really not that exciting (I promised myself I would play a single character, so it makes Imperial race & XP bonuses rather worthless).

I chose the Imperial Edition (physical) mainly for the art/lore book and the map. The statue is ok, but if that had been the only cool thing in it, I wouldn't have gotten it.

As for the digital items, if I hadn't bought the physical? hmmm, I probably would buy the digital, but I'm not sure. I'd like to eventually play as an Imperial, but not for my first (or even second) character. I don't really care about vanity pets, and I don't really have anyone to share the rings of Mara with. The only thing that might get me to buy the digital (if I hadn't bought the physical already) is the horse.

One should note that digital versions purchased through 3rd party may not allow for the Imperial character or any race-any alliance feature to be accessed during the Early Days Access. The codes are only for the Early Access and not the "features" of the Imperial Edition. This includes the Imperial race and the any race-any alliance feature form the Explorer's Pack in addition to the other "items" like mounts, rings and pets.

Buy the imperial edition if you wish to play as one otherwise its a rip off. The standard preorder incentives are just as good and it doesn't cost anything more than the original box price. Who cares about a horse and a vanity pet plus the imperial is the most boring and bland of all the races.

Even if you receive and activate your game key before the launch? That's strange. Since they already have two early access keys (3 and 5 days), couldn't they have separated standard and imperial early access too?

I got the imperial edition for the early access which I hope the PS4 gets as well. There isn't a code on my receipt <.<

And all the physical stuff like the statue and books. I could care less about the digital things, and I won't be playing as the imperial race.

I wanted it to play as an Imperial and also because I wanted the fancy book and statue and whatnot. Just cool stuff I like to grab and since I pre-order very rarely and even more rare that I would buy a CE, I figured why not, big Elder Scrolls fan and all.

ESO Support told me that the retailer gave me an Early Access key. The Imperial Edition keys will be sent out close to 4-4. Members have reported to having the Imperial Edition listed in their ESO Account when purchased from the ESO site.

Where did you get your preorder?

I had preordered from Gamestop and they gave me my code that I redeemed that day (it was right on my receipt!)

Gamestop, I'll check on the receipt again maybe I just missed it. Maybe it's because I went into a physical store and didn't do it online?

I also went into the store. Could it be that consoles do not have codes yet? I ordered mine for PC.
