Do You Berserkers Exist?

Post » Tue Feb 04, 2014 10:13 pm

Much to my surprise, being active in the Skyrim community for a while, I've come across few Combat Specialists.

Many thieves, sneaky-stabby types, archers (including this guy), and mages out there. I'm sure everyone's buffed one-handed and their armor choice a bit as backup, but does anyone out there just go Nord/Orc/Imperial/Redgaurd, two-handed and heavy armor most of the time? I've barely seen any of these people in the community.

I love heavy armored battle tanks!

My favorite character is a Nord/two-handed heavy armored dragonborn.

I don't fancy to play as grizzlies on heroine.

Two-handed weapons are just too slow and awkward for me. I want to like them but I just can't. I do like the sound they make when you ready them though.

My second character was a big, angry orc that ran around with a battle-axe and full Orcish armor. With the use of Smithing, I managed to cheese him to the point that he could wade through hordes of opponents without needing to do anything but swing his axe, leaving a toll of death in his wake.

It was immensely entertaining.

I only ever play 1H / Shield / Mage (In that order of skill allocation) characters. Does that count OP?

When I saw the title of this thead, I was thinking 2H relevance but when you get down to it, any Melee based character could go "Berserk" as long as you can physically bash something that is.

I can get like that if my patience wears thin and feel like "GET THOSE TARGETS DOWN NOW!" (they are dam annoying & before I pop an artery!) lol.... :D

I don't think shields count in that regard, I was mainly referring to two-handers which is pretty much (along with blocking) my only skill under thirty after 103 hours of play.

The lack of speed is really what makes me hate heavy armor and two-handed weapons. I'm just not the "mighty glacier" type.

Huh,when I think of a Berserker I think of Two-Handed and Light Armor, not Heavy. In which case yes, my second most-played is a never-sneaking no-Restoration Volendrung-wielding Redguard.

I have played a Heavy-armored Two-Hander in the past, and it played fine, but then for various unrelated reasons decided to reroll her. I like it better with Light Armor I think, in the end, once you get past the initial learning curve of having much less protection. You can play a dodge and parry game or just rely on damage (hence Volendrung for power attacks).

Yup! More than half of my guys fall into that category.

They are pretty fun. :)

I tend to favor one handed over two though a lot of my characters are straight melee. My main character used a Nordic carved sword and backs it up with some lightning spells.

No, My character does not go topless when smashing Trolls with Trollsbane, or squashing the remnants of the Dragon Cult with the Longhammer and Elemental Fury.

My Two Handers usually go from Iron to Banded to Steel Plate or Dawngaurd.

I even had a character kill every named Dragon Priest in Vanilla with the Rueful Axe :bonk: The playthrough was not really fun, except for the payback to Barbas for a Sideways tumble down Bards' Leap.

I prefer Glass Hammers or Dual Wielding.

My Favorite Armor is Dawngaurd Heavy Armor, because the flexing is not as annoying and Immersion breaking as "Rubberized Iron and Steel".

I have 34 characters. All general types are included but most of them are warriors but only a few of my characters use heavy armor. I prefer light armor, one handed and shield but I also find almost as satisfied to play with two handed and light armor.

I'm most often an orc 2 hander with light or no armour. My current character, who I like a lot, is breaking the trend and is heavy armour and 1h and shield, but this was especially to try something different, I still consider myself a 2 hander at heart.

Not really battle tanks I suppose because I wear little to no armour and also don't level up health much (if at all), instead relying on my stamina, timing and super powerful weapon (db warhammer is my favourite) to dart from foe to foe 1 hit killing them.

They don't use brain in battle.

No fun in slashing and stabbing until enemy dead without calculated battle planning.

Most of my characters have been 2-Handed. But they rarely wear Heavy Armor. They mostly wear Light Armor (usually Fur or Hide).

My current character, a feral Nord semi-Berzerker, wears only Light Armor boots. She wears clothes when she is around civilized people and fights naked when she out in the wilderness.

A question to those who wear fur/hide, which armor combinations do you use? I refuse to wear the hide helmet because of the glitch. But what looks good with the bare chested fur armor? Also, realistic and lore filled?

My first character is always a Breton mage but ever since Morrowind I've had a Nord heavy armored man-at-arms style of build.

Morrowind I had a 2h Nord in ebony then Nordic Mail (Bloodmoon)

Oblivion I had a 2h Nord in ebony the Crusader (NotN)

Skyrim I have 2h Nord in ebony (though now trying Dragonplate out).

In Morrowind & Oblivion my Nords had destruction & restoration but for Skyrim I have changed roles and he uses a crossbow for range instead. My Imperial in light armor now uses destruction and restoration instead.

None of my Berzerker-type characters wear helms. That just doesn't seem very Berzerker-esque to me.

If the two-handed were faster and if maybe there were bastard swords, I would try going berserker. But since that isn't the case: one-handed + vampiric drain/random spell.

That's what I do, although my Breton and Nord characters have a sword and a shield, rather than a two-handed weapon. My Orc? One moment please.

Most of my characters are Orcs, but I've never really done a beserker, my current character is an Orc wearing Light Stahlrim Armour, and has the Stahlrim War Axe and Light Shield, with Alchemy and Restoration for support. And some Enchanting and Destruction for added Frost Damage.

Besides, when using the Orc's racial power, wouldn't it make more sense to take double damage while dealing twice of what he normally delivers? After all, berserkers are all about killing stuff with little to no concern towards their own safety.
