Is that a Balcony?

Post » Wed Feb 05, 2014 9:40 pm

There's a balcony on Dragonsreach, overlooking the city.

Edit: Note that this is not the one found in the back, rather the front, above the entrance.

Is there any way to get up to it?

Has anyone seen it before? I haven't! If there's no console-friendly way to get up (beside magic boxes, of which I have yet to acquire...), I'll just hop on the PC and clip up there later.

I imagine it'd be fantastic up there, almost as nice as
Spoiler
Markarth's perch.

Yes, that balcony will become relevant in the main quest. I won't spoil it for you.

But you can get up to it. Just walk into the chamber behind the main chamber (where the Jarl is) and, if my memory is accurate, there should be another door on the opposite wall. Not sure if you can get in there until that...specific point in the main quest.

But yes, you actually do get to go onto that balcony eventually.

No, I'm afraid you misunderstand. I already know my way around Skyrim. This is a balcony overlooking the city, not the hold. Go check it out.

But you can't jump off it. Invisible wall. Great Bethesda programming at it's finest.

I thought that was exactly what you were talking about. A balcony on the Dragonreach building, where Jarl Baalgruf lives. That balcony, or some other balcony entirely?

I think I'll note the misunderstanding in the OP so more people won't be confused.

Dude, you said Dragonreach. That made me think that big castle/building in Whiterun, where Jarl Baalgruf lives.

Is there another Dragonreach somewhere else?

You can see it from the entrance. It's way up there.

Edit: Selfsame Dragonsreach.

:D Whiterun.

It's much like the luxury balcony in Anvil's castle in Oblivion. Man, I loved that place.

OK, I thought you were just trolling me, but now I get it. I honestly haven't seen that balcony on the front before. I should check it out.

Yeah, maybe I'll post a picture if I can get one. If anyone could get it for me, that'd be great too.

Are you talking about the wrap-around balcony that overlooks the city? If so, you can access that from the Jarl's private living quarters.

That area is accessed by going into the Dragonsreach bedroom area and looking for a door leading out.
I knew about it in 2011. B)

Really? I'm not much of an intruder, but I think I'll make an exception in this case...

Oh, yeah. It's nice up here, especially at sunset. The wind's blowing and the houses are glowing. Very nice.

Skyrim never fails to deliver those little moments.

Yep. You go there through the Jarls chambers. It's been a while since I was last there, but it's beautiful. I believe Riften is has one too. Though Whiterun is the superior city.

Yeah it's awesome up there. From the balcony you can realize how the city stands in its own world because everything else is super low quality. Something that mods fix fortunately.
