How useful is whirlwind sprint?

Is this shout used mainly for only hard to reach places?

It can come in handy. If you need to get away from an enemy quickly or to get past swinging axes.

The ability to sprint very fast?

It's useful.

It's the closest thing we have to a Speed attribute in Skyrim. Great for rogues and thieves. :)

Player.setav speedmult 500

THAT is the true speed boost for a pc player.

(then of course there's weaponspeedmult and leftweaponspeedmult and bowspeedmult but the latter only alters time when zoomed with the eagle eye perk)

This shout, like many of the others, would be a lot more useful it had a much shorter cool-down.

Also, a target lock-on feature like that of Biotic Charge from Mass Effect would have been awesome. It would have been even better if it had also included a temporary slowed time effect and the ability to knock down and incapacitate enemies upon impact.

If you're playing a squishy character that doesn't like to get hit in melee, using just the first word when you are being charged by a clumsy and slow-footed warrior can be an effective way to dodge out of the way of their huge wind-up power attacks.

It's useful to get over gaps you can't physically jump. But it's also handy for closing the ground between you and an enemy (or the other way around), e.g if your in heavy armor with a swift archer kiting you, hailing arrows at you from afar, getting close to them & killing them.

Oh man if Whirlwind Sprint was like ME's Biotic charge. I might actually find the shout useful.

To answer the question. I never use it after getting the horn. I can run quick enough past swinging blades that little to no harm is ever done.

I only ever found it marginally useful. Cooldown is way too long.
