IMO it'll be about the same as they claimed signed up for beta, so somewhere just over 3 mil.

For PC and Mac? 1 to 2.

For One and PS4? A whole hell of a lot higher. Probably 5.

Eventually ESO gets to 10 easy.

PC/Mac will be around 3-4 million.

PS4/One, unless they sell a lot more you will never reach 5 million. Currently less then 4.5 are on the market. So that would be, EVERY single person plus 500k playing the game. Not gonna happen. PC/Mac will have the highest numbers, get over your console ideas of being superior, consoles won't overtake PC on a game like TES.

He wasn't saying consoles are better. He is was implying that TES community is big on consoles. Skyrim had amazing sales and ESO will sell many of consoles, maybe even enough to rival the Pc community.(At least for a few months, not sure about long term)

You had no reason to be rude to him, he was just putting his input on the numbers.

I'm getting tired of hearing that one system will do better over the others when no one truly knows at this point. Also no one ever actually figures in how many of the new consoles are out there compared to PCs. It's funny to hear people talk about how well it will do on consoles when they don't look at facts.

So yah, I was a bit rude, but it's facts.

I really don't care if it "facts". There is no need to jump down someone's throat for trying to participate in the community. ESO needs people that are kind and helpful. Not a "Dwight"

Thank you DCaliber. Exactly what you said.

My argument has nothing to do with what's better to play on. Here's what it's based upon.

1) A massive community of Skyrim players who play on consoles.
2) People hearing of how great it is on PC and buying it when it comes out on consoles.
3) PC users buying a second copy.
4) GTA V sold 20 million copies in a week. This isn't 1998. 1 million units isn't what it used to be.
5) A large portion of people will buy it without knowing about the 15 bucks per month.
6) ESO will be the first MAJOR title for both consoles. Plenty of people are waiting to buy one until ESO drops.

So yeah, because of the subscriptions and the lack of consoles sold it'll be lower than GTAV, but by August it'll have sold between 5 to 10 million copies easily.

I'd like to add that even if 4.5 million consoles have been sold to date, that number could easily double within 5 months.

GTA isn't a niche genre though

For what it's worth I just Googled Skyrim's sales numbers.

3.5 million the first 2 days.
7 million the first week.
20 million overall.

59% on XBox
27% on PS
14% on PC

Those numbers are about 1/3rd of GTAV. I'll cut them in half to be fair. That leaves us with 3.5 million the first week and 10 million overall.

I would argue that Elder Scrolls is no longer a niche either.

Maybe is it was prior to Skyrim, but Oblivion really put it out there for all to see.

GTA V was way more anticipated, that is for sure. They had a lot more advertising going on. It has had a more reaching audience than Elder Scrolls has in it's lifetime...but once ES got across all 3 major platforms, it jumped very high. Have to remember, Morrowind was available on a system that didn't sell nearly what the competition did so you left a lot of gamers out (who I'm betting quite a few converted once the 360 came out).

It was 65 plus 5 plus 20 plus 20 if you bought all of the expansions. Also you guys severely over estimate the number of people who will even realize that there's a sub fee.

It will get 2 million intially and that will be made up of mostly pc and mac players followed by ps4 users and furthdown the line Xbox One users due the fact that Xbox One users still have the monthly fee to deal with compared to PS4 users. I also predict that it will be Xbox One that has its servers close first followed by ps4 then the pc and mac servers. See the big thing is that TESO is going to have alot of competition with Wildstar and the next WoW Expansion and despite the fact that is 10 years old WoW is still yet to be dethroned.

Having said that, if teso can keep around 1-1.5million players after 1 year without going to Pay2Win.. I mean Free2play it will be a success.
