Can I save Joffre? How?

My mage is finishing the Main Quest. I would really like Joffre to be alive at the end. My mage has 100 Illusion, 100 conjuration, 78 Destruction, approx 40 restoration, 430 magika, heap of restore health, magika potions, staff of 8 secs paralysis. My mage worked really hard to get Joffre through the Battle of Bruma, but I don't seem to be able to get him to the end of the MQ alive. Joffre is alive before Martin and my mage go into the Temple of the One, but after it is all over, I can't find Joffre at Cloud Ruler Temple, so I assume he is dead. I can't find his body anywhere - but then the Temple district doesns't have any bodies in it so I don't know where his body would be.

I am trying casting 100% chameleon 25 secs on Joffre - which helps (although it does make it hard to keep track of where he is!) Before I go into the final battle area (Temple district) where Mehrunes Dagon is, I have healed Joffre back up to full health.

After Martin gives his speech to my mage when he sees Mehrunes Dagon, I cast 100% chameleon on Martin, invisibility on my mage, and run straight into the Temple of the One - so we get in there fast. But when it is all over, and I've waited a few days and gone to Cloud Ruler temple, Joffre isn't there anywhere, and he isn't in his bed in the small hours of the morning. So I assume he is dead. I don't know what can have happened to him - maybe Mehrunes Dagon stomped on him in the last seconds?

UESP says he can be got through, so I am working on the assumption that this is possible. But I'm stumped because Joffre is alive at the last time I see him, and then he apparently doesn't make it.

Has anyone got Joffre through to the very end of the MQ? This is my first time completing the MQ so I'm hoping some more experienced people have some tips!

Yes!

Personally If you want to keep them alive without having to fight, is to stack up on all the speed boost that you can, ALL OF THEM. And just make a mad dash towards the temple.

I never really had a problem keeping both of them alive, the gate of Bruma was harder. :P
