Disintegrate: Worst. Perk. Ever.

Post » Sat Feb 08, 2014 8:35 am

I took "Disintegrate" thinking, "That sounds cool!" Boy, was I mistaken...

Most kills now disintegrate, which is not bad in and of itself, but trying to find their bodies afterwards is a PAIN in the backside! I swear these ash piles are pounded INTO the ground. I have spent HOURS searching for some of these elusive ash piles.

Now, I am trying to get the perk removed (thank goodness for console commands) but I can not get rid of it. According to all the websites (UESP first), the code is:

Spoiler
000f3f0e.
I am unsure if this is correct, though. When I go into console command mode, then open up Perks, this is not the code I am getting when clicking on the perk. Instead, it is telling me:
Spoiler
000155de.
Is this how one finds out the code, or am I totally off base here  (This different code did not work, either.)

I can not get it removed! I took it a long, long time ago and am loathe to reload that pre-leveling save, but this may be in my character's near future

Any ideas how to get rid of this?

Update your game to patch 1.9

Reset the skill by making it legendary

????

Ash piles do disappear into the dirt, even with a fully patched game. It's the most annoying thing.

Type "player.removeperk 000f3f0e". Clicking on the interface will get you just that - the interface underneath your mouse. It won't give you the code for the perk itself.

I play on xbox, so I can't help you there. Although those three specialty elemental perks are all a pain in the ass. Deep freeze however, on second though is very useful! :D

I always thought Disintegrate might be useful too, must have been mistaken judging by your difficulties with it.

This should work player.removeperk F3F0E not sure why it wouldn't. If it doesn't and you have legendary the only thing I would do is make that tree legendary and redistribute the points.

Edit: Removed spoiler tag as the info is already in a post above mine.

I'm not at 100 Destruction, though. I think I'm at 76?

[EDIT]

player.removeperk worked! Thanks :)

Is there anything that valuable you need to loot from run-of-the-mill opponents? I mean, is this really ruining the game for you? By the time I've got Disintegrate, money/potions/gear are not an issue. The only items of value are enchanted gear, but only 'cause I don't buy from vendors and generally put off developing enchantment until the very end of a PC's career (it's kind of a crowing achievement). If you want to buy or synthesize your own stuff, then that's even less reason to worry about looting. Is it the dragon scales/bones?

Maybe you can avoid shock attacks against opponents that you think have really good loot but take your chances with the regular canon-fodder baddies? Personally, I find it a little distracting to burn or shock an opponent and then find, intact, items like tomatoes or cheese etc. You'd think even regular magic items (jewelry in particular) would be susceptible to damage or destruction if the bearer is hit with lightning or fireballs, but no, you never find damaged items.

If you have the dragonborn DLC you can reset your perks at the cost of a dragon soul
