Star Wars & "Jedi"-ism

Post » Sat Feb 08, 2014 6:29 pm

While watching Star Wars (Empire Strikes back) after work earlier this week my roommate asked me if I had ever heard of the "Jedi-ism"

he then began to tell me about a movement in the early 2000s, where people of various nations were putting "Jedi" as their primary religion on their census records to try and get it recognized as a real religion...

so, my questions are:

1) Have you ever heard of this story?

2) is this a Sign of Star Wars just capturing peoples imaginations, or just people trying to "play a joke" on their government?

1) Nope, Never heard of it but I did lol while reading it. (I'm gonna google it)

2) It could be taken either way. People believe what they want but in this case, It could've been a joke.....at least..I would joke about that haha.

EDIT!- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jediism <-- link for those that want to read about it.

I've heard of it, but never really paid attention to it.

I always thought it was a joke, but some people actually take it seriously. All the power to them. :starwars:
