The Imperial Civil War OOC thread.

Post » Sun Feb 09, 2014 1:27 am

Three years ago, the Stormcloak rebellion ended in favor of the Empire, but it was costly. For four years, the Empire wasted many of their resources and soldiers in containing Ulfric. And while they did defeated the stormcloaks, the province is still scarred from war, and many Legionnaires dies in the process.

In 4E206, one year after the Siege of Windhelm, Emperor Titus Mede II, an unpopular monarch, went to Skyrim. Officially on a political trip, he was assassinated. It is unknown how; but some speculate it was the Dark Brotherhood that did the deed. Regardless it would prove to be a fatal consequence for the ailing Cyrodiil.

Titus II had two sons; Tiberius and Attrebutes II. Both debated for the Ruby Throne in front of the Elder Council. While Attrebutes II was Titus II's selected heir, Tiberius argued that he was unqualified for leadership, and feared that his brother would antagonize the Aldmeri Dominion and that the Empire is not prepared for conflict with them yet. after nine days of debate, the Elder Council agree roughly two to one that Tiberius will be Emperor despite Attributes II being the heir.

Attributes II felt what was his had become stolen. He fears that his brother's policies will further damage the Empire. And so he went to Skyrim. And for two years, prepared to take what was his. The year is 4E 208, and the Red Legions will be divided.

This role play will take place during a time where the Empire is in civil war. And will be divided into several chapters. These chapters will vary on plot, theme, and general tone and story.

The first chapter will focus on the very beginning of the war: The Battle of Pale Pass. You're role will be that of an high ranking officer, commanding parts of either Legion as you try to outsmart the opponent. Though you can play as a rank-and-file soldier, these types of characters are considered secondary in this RP. Keep in mind that while it is the first battle, Pale Pass is crucial in the war. Whoever controls Pale Pass can move with ease into Cyrodiil.

Points of Interest...

Spoiler

The white section highlights the major road

At the southern part where "X" is at is Fort Reman, the HQ of the Sixth Legion, which is currently loyal to Tiberius Mede. The name is Fort Reman

The Mountain towards west but on the right side of the western most part of the road is where the ancient Akaviri Fort is located. While still in stable condition, the fortress is largely inaccessible. Especially for large groups of people like an army. But if one army could find a way into the fort, it could prove to provide a huge strategic advantage..

Across the Pass can be several encampments of the Sixth Legion. While not as large as Fort Reman, they serve to provide Legion presence in the Pass and discourage bandits from occupying, thus making the Pass safe to travel.

The Northern most area is where one of the rogue Legions, the Second Legion, is at. The Second Legion is the main force behind the upcoming surprise assault on Fort Reman.

Factions are like mentioned before, the Legions of Tiberius and Attributes II. And for this specific battle will be the Second Legion (representing Attributes) and the Sixth Legion (Tiberius.)

Second Legion organization

Spoiler

Legion: 6,000 Men – Commanded by a Lieutenant General

Brigade: 3,000 Men – Commanded by a Colonel

Battalion: 1,000 Men – Commanded by a Lieutenant-Colonel or Major

Company: 250 Men – Commanded by Major or Captain

Platoon: 50 Men – Commanded by Lieutenant

Squad: 16 Men – Commanded by Staff Sergeant

Team: 8 Men – Commanded by Sergeant or Corporal

Sixth Legion organization

Spoiler

Legion: 6,000 men- commanded by a general

Division: 2,000 men- led by a legate

Cohort: 500 men- led by a Tribune

Company: 100 men- led by a quaestor

Squad: 10 men- led by a praefect.

The reason for the difference in ranking structure is due to the Rogue Legions needing a way to difference themselves somewhat from the rest of the Imperial Legion.

Character sheet example

Spoiler

Actually, I think it's best to have you reveal your character gradually through the process of the chapter. And you need to keep your mind fresh on posting and making a CS won't help. Though you can make your own for reference if you wish. To join, just say what side you want to be on.

Player roster

The Second Legion:

Kalarn (Legion commander)

Josh gro-Graz

The Sixth Legion:

Spoiler

The Epic Scroll 97 (Legion Commander)

Rhonos (Legate.)

Rules:

Spoiler

1: Try to keep someone active. You do not have to be so 24/7, but at least once or twice a week will be fine.

2: When posting, try to keep it at least two paragraphs long. Nothing annoys people more than an entire RP thread on forums being a long number of one line posts of two folks having a conversation.

3: Character controlling is a no-no. Unless a GM needs to do it to advance the plot or the person is okay with it.

4:No overpowering characters. Me or Kalarn will let you know if that's the case.

5:Follow the rules.

6: Have fun.

My character is Tovius Aravus; he’s a one hundred and fifty year old Dunmer who’s currently a Major leading a Battalion for the 2nd Legion. http://oi62.tinypic.com/2guh4wz.jpg is what Tovius looks like and http://oi60.tinypic.com/312tx7t.jpg is what he looks like with armor. His armor is a family heirloom; it was forged in Morrowind out of Malachite and Moonstone and has been colored red and gold. The sword he wields is silver and is also a family heirloom, its name is http://oi60.tinypic.com/331hrp4.jpg. He is the only surviving member of his family.

I'd like to be cohort commander, so Tribune (I would've preferred primus pilus but then again, this isn't ancient Rome)

If you'd like a short summary:

My character is Marcus Avitus, a Loyalist and veteran of the Great War. He excels at utilizing the sword-and-shield setup, and is fairly proficient at archery.

My Officers will be presented with their orders once the battle plans are completed. Don't fail the Ravens of the North! We can not suffer their oppression any longer!

Accepted. I'm adding your sheet right now.

That's five of us so far, at this rate, I might start the IC thread by Sunday or less. I hope this stays this active.

@ Karlarn. Good luck though. BTW, considering that the RP is divided into chapters, how long should this chapter take?

As cohort commander, I assume that I am stationed in one of the various Sixth Legion encampments that dot Pale Pass, correct? I'll be waiting for your orders, Epic.

I don't know if I'll have you be at Fort Reman or at a camp. I'm thinking about where exactly to put these camps and how many. If you have advice feel free to tell me.

*Grabs hand to shake* May our characters may face each other in the fields of battle! Or maybe not. Maybe mine is an armchair general.

We're on the same side, General.

Edit: And I expect those men used well. You sacrifice them in vain and I'll crucify you.

Sorry, mate.

By the way, this is how I envision my character: http://th05.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2012/197/a/5/herculiani_iuniores_legio_palatina_4th_century_by_amelianvs-d57fb1m.jpg

A depiction of Raynil Aren: http://wallfon.com/walls/fantasy/dark-elf-warrior.jpg

Since you've all heard of or met him in some manner, I'll give a character sheet for him.

Name: Raynil Aren

-Nicknames: The Raven; The Boethian

Race: Dunmer-Imperial Breed (his great grandfather was an Imperial. It shows in his slightly less curved ears and paler skin).

Gender: Male

Age: 241--and shows every year of it.

Alignment: Neutral Good with Chaotic Good Tendencies - He is an extraordinary commander. Honed through literally centuries of experience in the Killing Fields (as he calls them). He believes quite thoroughly in his actions and can condone sacrifice for the greater good, but he lends towards lawlessness in some aspects. He's pragmatic in every sense of the word. If it would weaken his war effort to sacrifice a village to the empire and know they'd be executed like dogs, he would do so and paint their sacrifices as martyrs to the public.

Religion: His faith lies heavily in the Tribunal, as well as the "Good Daedra". He worships Mephala, Boethiah, and Azura, but he considers Boethiah to be his patron. His Patron Saint is Saint Nerevar.

Philosophy: He is a follower of the "Way of the Scrib".

Way of the Scrib:

"The Scrib is a microcosm for life itself.

But it is more than that.

It is a symbol of the riches of perseverance and dedication.

Look upon the Scrib and see what it is.

It is weak. Barely worthy of one's attention at first glance.

And that is true--at first glance.

But that Scrib labors away to become part of something greater.

Of something bigger than it can comprehend.

It labors away to become Kwarma.

This is true for our kind as well.

Every day, we must labor away to improve.

We must fight for self-improvement.

Even when it hurts.

Even when it makes up yelp in agony.

Even when the thought makes our stomachs weak.

For every day pushes us towards our apotheosis,

Towards becoming our own form of Kwama.

Something incomprehensible, but simultaneously amazing.

Be diligent, Young Scrib and you will be Kwama.

Be weak and you will feed the Cliff Racers.

Only you can choose which path you walk."

General Physical Description: He is rather tall for a Dunmer and his muscles are incredibly toned (and large) for one of Elven Heritage. He has long hair as white as snow and his skin is a pale ashen grey. He has a single tattoo on the inside of his left forearm of the words in calligraphic, daedric script: "Never forget." Nobody is entirely sure what he is trying to remember. On his right shoulder blade in similar script are the words: "Death Before Defeat", That tattoo is in reference to his first tour with the Imperial Legion in which he served with the 1st Legion (who still hold that motto under his command).

Weapon(s): His signature blade which strikes fear into the hearts of all who are unfortunate enough to see it, Last Light. Last Light is an ebony great sword enchanted to rip the life force away from those it cuts into and sustain its wielder. He is also armed with a long sword at his side and a dagger in each boot.

Armor/Apparel: He wears a suit of ebony full-plate armor. This was granted to him as a gift when he was named an honorary Knight of the Dragon, a title dating back centuries given only to the finest knights in the Empire. He also wears a silver chain with an ebony head on it. Half is bright gold and the other is black as Bal's heart. It is to symbolize Vehk watching over him.

Misc. He carries a journal, a quill, and a vial of ink.

Biography: I won't spoil this of course. You know a bit about him, but not his roots...
