hello, just played ESO beta for a few hours.( deleting comments about the game cos of NDA)
Comparison with other MMOs:
I mainly play wow multi-boxing 10 characters, and its better than pandaria in a different way. Less bright colors, less cartoony in ESO. I dont think this game will be muti-boxable even using ISboxer. Not a bad thing, will save me alot of cash. I have played EQ, EQ2, neverwinter, DDO, swtor, eve, tera, rift, FF online, LOTR, diablo 3, GW2, and others Ive forgotten about like Horizon. Some do charceter models better, some graphics better, but then their worlds are not immersive. EQ was great in its day, but is too ugly now. EQ2 is an ugly game and extremely boring in quest design and the new lands ill thought out (boring/not immersive) other than iskar lands. EQ2 is sub/f2p and I bought alot of platinum/cosmetic armor/xp potions/craft skill boosts until I satisfied that itch and cancelled the sub and left the game. neverwinter is very boring gameplay lacks immersion, but is pretty. It has no open world exploration sense and a weird f2p system. ddo is terrible as an open world MMO. Swtor is ugly graphically by its design decisions not its quality of models/scenery. It is also repetitive after a years playing and once you are bored romancing your followers and finishing all the storylines. It went f2p and I was a svcker buying cargo space/etc etc but I had a sub so others had to pay for alot more. Eve I played for 1 day so cant comment other than the graphics didnt appeal/controls didnt like and menu driven system clunky. Will wait for Star Citizen. Liked Freelancer. Tera has combat like ESO which isnt lock-on. However it is so Easterny and full of awful cutesy things its totally unimmersive. Truly bad game for a mature MMOer. Rift is fine, but not different enough to persist with past the 1 month sub with the game. LoTR I liked despite poor graphics for its stories/quests, exploration value. It is f2p but there was no need to buy anything much than xp boost potions. diablo 3 not really an MMO. GW2 looked great, but not as great as what Ive seen in ESO so far. Why? GW2 lands are not to my liking other than the human starting lands/city. Theres something cluttered and disordered about them. Not aesthetically pleasing. But I gve up around level 20-30 so never saw later zones or updates. Maybe its better now. I wasnt reallyu impressed by GW2 questing system or cheesy American accents. SO I am really hoping ESO will be better than all these other games
. I loved skyrim, morrowwind and daggerfall and like oblivion apart from teh main quest story in oblivion. I like that ESo will be like these games. Its almost as if this is the next single player ESO game if you want to play it that way. Graphics wont be a killer for me as long as the world is immersive, big and explorable. It wont beat wow for me as its not multi-boxable and I like the colorful world of Pandaria. But it will be worth a 15$ sub for a few years to see where it goes and to play every alliance and see every land, dungeon, raid and try the pvp.
I dont know if the crafting is implemented in ESO beta, but crafting is a big part of my world. The crafting in evry game other than wow is terrible. Its either too complex like EQ2 or tedious like EQ. Or its too much the same as wow and you think no, Im not going to go through this all over again if I dont really like this world. I didnt do much of GW2 crafting, maybe its great. If the crafting system is great in ESO, as in 1] you collect or buy raw materials from nodes in teh world or players/markets 2] make things that are actually profitable to you or others 3] the actual crafting system is not too weird/complex/simple. Think EQ2 fighting the forge by pressing hot keys to make a pristine sack. I think wow has the crafting balance very well worked out.
