Truth

Lore, soul was not founded by the developers behind this game.

They are hired to do a job. It's their job.
Those who hired them had the plan to make this game.

And those people look at the game with a "how to make most money of it".

Blizzard, are the developers. They have the creator of the lore and soul of the vast WarCraft universe, behind the game as one of the many developers.

This is how they continue to build upon the same game and same engine with better gameplay and better performance and better artwork and 10 years forward.. is now.. new models that capture the very essence of their original self.

Their trademark is soonTM. When it is done.

I DO NOT get that vibe from these developers and corporated business men. Remember that the bosses of Blizzard is developers while here.. they are not. Look it up. They hire developes to do what they think is best for the game with their non-game mind but production-cost-profit mind.

It is SHOCKING that the beta.. 2 months before release is under NDA!

But also very revealing that they are afraid of people, community, scarying away pre-orders.

No MMO has NDA this long before release.

No game has moved from a single player series like TES into a mmo.

Yup they sent out 500k beta keys to Curse.com alone because they are terrified of people seeing what the game is all about.

Wait.. what?

That you have to PAY premium Curse membership for .. so it is safe to assume if you pay .. Your not going to break the NDA!

FIRST... Why the hell NDA just 2 months before release!? What are they afraid of? Are they really that unsure about their game? Yes

Jesus.. I have never seen anyone make so their entire e mail and username is over the entire screen so people don't break the NDA.

I must have been insanely lucky then, as I didn't have to pay a dime for a beta key.

They are not lifting the NDA because they are certain a lot of things will change. Also, they are aware of the absolute monstrosity of ignorance that plagues MMO forums.

Oh yay, another complaint thread by Po, I remember these from the Dishonored days. Everything is doom and gloom with everything, eh?

And that's how it is here too, seeing how it's been in development since 2007 and still had the release date pushed up with half a year.

You should look it up too, the boss for Zenimax Online Studios is headed by none other than Matt Firor, a veteran MMO game designer.

Not really, if that was the case they would invite far less to the beta.

In the end, your conspiracies are from from the topic title "Truth".

You don't think the NDA has anything to do with having a plan about what information to release and when, carefully plotted out in conjunction with media outlets; and that perhaps it might not be beneficial to their marketing plan if some beta tester leaks information that was, for example, supposed to be a cover story for an exclusive first-look or something?

Nah, must be a conspiracy. It's always a conspiracy... :shakehead:

Actually, from what I understand. Those who paid for a Curse subscription simply got first dibs. Even those with free accounts got the chance for a key.

And a lot of MMO's don't even lift the closed beta NDA until long after release. Makes sense as it stops someone who took part in an early beta from ranting about a bug or feature that has long been fixed, changed or removed.

It is unusual to see a closed beta still going this close to release though.

Just look at any of the early release game forums on steam and you will see this showcased...

The new generation of gamers tend to react badly to games with bugs these days and the entire reason for a beta test is to find bugs.

by the way - I think that they sent invitations to all that registered their need on http://elderscrollsonline.com/en-uk/ site. The Curse key are for those who do not know about the game and are already Curse clients - but I might be wrong.

Opinions, everyone has them, armchair dev's are every where, just funny to read and see things unfold... My opinion really is the only one that matters to me, and why would I think my opinion is best for the masses ? when it is really only good for me..:)

Let me see if I can follow the logic of Zeni's clever conspiracy.

Let's make a game that will rely on a monthly subscription, which likely needs happy customers who like the game.

Let's then make a crap game, but don't worry we'll keep the NDA in effect so no one will ever find out "the truth."

Now we release the game and no one ever knows "the truth" because the beta testers signed an NDA. No over ever breaks the NDA.

Step 3: Profit?

Yep, hard to find any holes in that plan...

Yeah, I know. But I'm saying it's not the only reason, it's one of many, but not the only.

That is definently not the case but they really should have done this game with Bethesta, not on their own

OR you could have actually read the announcement. [I added color and made the type bigger so it was easier to see.] But, DRAMA!!! Why bother to let reality interfere with a good conspiracy theory?

Curse has 500,000 beta keys for The Elder Scrolls Online Beta! http://www.curse.com/premium users will have first chance to grab one, from February 4th through 5th. The giveaway will then open to everyone else on February 6th to 10th.

You can find more details about TESO on the http://elderscrollsonline.com/ and http://www.tesowiki.com/Main_Page. http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/preorder and https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/home?region=US are also on the official site.

You can grab your key http://www.curse.com/betas/teso-beta-key-giveaway! Keep in mind that the beta is still under an NDA.

Once again the dates for which types of accounts will be eligible are:

Premium Only: February 4th - 5th, 2014
All Curse Members: February 6th - 10th, 2014

As far as the watermark email/name stuff; in the beginning they didn't do that. Then due to the people who ignored the nda and leaked information, they decided to make it a little easier to find out who was doing that. You know, cause it was illegal and stuff. Funny how companies get upset about things like that in the real world.

Just from the things posted on the forum that shouldn't have been; yes, they still need the nda. People are getting outraged by bugs and problems because they can't play the game. I was under the impression that a beta test is intended to do exactly that; find bugs and glitches. People who simply want to play the game need to wait for a demo, or for player reviews to come out after release, because they aren't going to get a completely glitch and bug free beta game. And for a stress test? Yeah, things are going to slow down, or break. That is what it is supposed to do. Again, just from the forum, Zenimax knows their support has to kick up several notches for the real game. That is actually a good thing.

They figured out half way that the game is not fun. I didn't think it was fun in my mind. When I played the beta in my mind. I was dreaming that it was the most dull and non enganing game that I drream I play. Thsts why I am sjhocked with how it all was in my mind.

There is no presence of Mastermind of true Elder Scrolls franchise and lore.

I dream I cant even move a weapon on ground or drop coins over my bed or fill a bucket with eggs... tjats trhe true TES.. damn phone

Not fun for you. Other players have different opinions.

The starting areas are tutorial areas. If there is lore there it will be in the background. Learning the controls is more important to new players.

After the starting areas, it will be interesting to see what is out there.

Im all for bashing the pay wall they created, but in this case you are incorrect overall.

And specifically about Curse, those who had premium accounts there got first keys, I got mine the next day and in that afternoon people were saying on the forums they still got theirs, so there was plenty of time to get one.
