Looking for a "weapon on back" MOD

Post » Sun Feb 09, 2014 9:23 am

Some time ago I have seen screenshots of a Morrowind lady carrying her bow and quiver on her back. There is also an "Umbra-overhaul" MOD with the orc having all his weapons sheated on his back.

I want my character carry his axe sheated on his back - have looked in MMH and used the search-function here but found nothing.

Anyone an idea if such MODs exist?

Thanks

Greetings, Bubishi

There are numerous "weapon sheath" mods available [at least, there were ... got to check what's available now, of course ...]

Even some that will apply to your Companions [!!]

AND -- If you cannot find exactly what you want, it is generally [fairly] easy to create it yourself, in the MW Construction Set.

Just remember -- a "sheathed" weapon has to be a "body part" associated with an item of clothing/armor [your choice].

And, preferably, included in a script that will substitute an "empty" sheath [or, nothing] on your back, whenever the axe, etc. is "drawn" and in your hand.

Many people have produced mods that do this, with swords, bows, etc.... Just find one mod that you like, and substitute your own preferences for what they have already done.

[Incidentally, I had an idea a while back for "sheathable rapiers," using various rapier mods made by others. Got "permissions" from all of them to mod them, but, since I know little or nothing about NifScope or other mesh-editing tools, I was never able to make the "sheathed" or "empty sheath" meshes to use in it. So, it remains a pipe dream ...]

In any event, Happy Gaming!

Is suppose that's another layer of functionality I'll add to my "wish list" for OpenMW.

I wish there were a huge mod compilation project like I suggested. Instead of everyone going around looking for little side mods, we could just have one big "morrowind revamped" project that takes a ton of available mods, smooths them out for related compatibility, leaves a readme with credits, and pumps out the final product as some 300-400 different mods in one huge 3 GB morrowind updating file.

A one-stop download to go along with MGSO.

Just tried it.
Put my sparksword down, hear clothing noise, look at menu, see my character with a new sheath!!!!
Hurrah.
Also: my character is shirtless. Wth. Bug. I put shirt back on, take sword out, put down back in, and shirt comes off again.
The creator of the mod liked shirtless dudes  uninstalling

Or, you know, the sheath takes the shirt slot. . .

Here you go, the exact same mod, only it takes a glove slot instead.

And, of course the very best mod for bow sheaths I've used. They modify your left pauldron.

OB bow sheaths = http://mw.modhistory.com/download-95-14096

And then there are Phijama's mods, which all usually have sheathing scripts attached that either use the neck or groin slot.

Greetings, Bubishi and NathanielRHamrick

And, once you get familiar with the Construction Set and the interrelationships between "body parts" and "Clothing/Armor" slots, you can change all the sheathes, etc. around to suit yourself.

[Hint: Gloves (clothing) and Bracers (armor) make great "slots" for quivers, weapons-on-back, wigs and eyeglasses and necklaces, etc.

Regardless (generally) of what "body part" they may have been designed to use originally.]

It's YOUR game, so, make it what you prefer, Eh?

[PS -- There's a tool called NifOR, that will actually let you change the "slots" your sheath meshes originally use! Be careful, though, since sometimes you can get very humorous results with those changes ...]

Here's a good question which is related but more towards the openMW team...

Will there be a way to add character graphics without taking up slots? (or have the weapon be visible whether out or inside, taking up the weapon slot) . I'll ask it directly to the openMW team in the coming months
