This is why I think ESO will fail.

Post » Sun Feb 09, 2014 3:40 pm

The game is still under the NDA, so I am not discussing any in game details or game-play from within the Beta, but what I think so far after watching the video.

I Love the Elder Scroll series, I enjoyed Skyrim a lot played the game a lot enjoyed the graphics, ESO is a great game Graphics wise based on the videos made public, and art-work on your site.

This is not a TROLL post either, but what I think needs to be changed before you all release this game to the public.

elderscrollsonline .com/en/media/videos/657

If you look at this video you will see at 1:25 you can see where the developer is talking about the game and (Skills) As you can see clearly and public in the video there are (Class Based Skills) and Trees similar to Rift Online, where players can put in points as also talked about in the video.

You can also see weapon skills in the video as clearly described as well.

My problem and opinion with this game based on this video, I absolutely hate the class skill system.

The video itself says I have freedom to be who I want to be, I consider this video a lie, and sure I maybe able to change my weapon obtain different weapon skills as said in this video as well, but what I want is the ability to change my class on a (Single Characters) and play the game.

Have you developers ever played DarkFall, or Kingdoms of Amalur, or Final Fantasy XIV?

What I want to see in ESO is a system that allows me to create a single character, and swap between (Classes) on a single character while in a town, or in my (House), as well as weapon swapping. Basically I can play a single character level up everything on it and play the game my way.

In Dark-Fall I can do this which is why I enjoy the game, now I played Skyrim a lot there was never any class to choose from in the game I just had a weapon that did basic attack damage, and Spells/magic that did magic damage no actual class system.

If you look at 2:50, in this video you can see that the developer clearly talks about the class/skill system and character creation, I absolutely for one hate the character creation system, and think it needs to be changed to a Sand-box feeling before release of the game.

Ever Played Kingdoms of Amalur?

Yes the company went bankrupt but I like the concept of their game and housing system, think about housing in ESO if players could customize their house, upgrade to big house/mansion theme put all crafting stations in the house, access their bank from within the house, and craft inside the house as well as set public access to the instanced house, or friends only and so on.

Over-All what I want to see in ESO, is a sand-box based game.

. No Class System

. No Limits on how many crafts a person can pick up (World OF Warcraft Style)

Over-All, I think that the developers of ESO have done a great Job based on this.

elderscrollsonline .com/en/media

However even if I do buy the game, I likely won't stay subscribed beyond two months, I will wait for the game to go Free 2 Play, I like the game, and the Art-Work, but for being a 2014 developed game I expect 2014 game-play mechanics and sand-box feeling not restricted of game-play feeling also pleas please take a look at your character progression video it says (Be Who You Want To Be) Well I wan't be a master of everything in a sand-box world.

I just ask the dev's take a look at how they are going about this game before release and improve this game based on what I have said above, I am not the only one who has complained about the system but 4 entire clans I am a member of have had members complain about a lot of things I can't discuss public because of the NDA. I want to see ESO be a successful game. But I doubt any of this will change before release because out of every game I have seen in Beta information released on Media tab usually doesn't change.

You see, The reason I complain about this is because I have played many MMO's over the years, and I know from experience that every MMO I have played from Lineage 2, Aion, APB Reloaded, all of them have went F2P over the years because of lack of innovation, and in the end players get really tired of playing multiple characters but want a chance to try them all, level and do everything, a Reason that even Guild Wars 2 turned me away after hitting level 80 I quit nothing to do bored, don't feel like leveling different characters when I should be able to change my sorcerer into a warrior if I want level it up swap between whatever class I want to in GW2 and enjoy the game but I can't I have to waste time doing achievement's or unlocks on every character I want to play its annoying, and boring.

Perhaps (ESO) Should have an open Beta, to get everyone's real opinion about the game, or perhaps look at the video yourself, and share what you think about their class system yourself.

WOW have an limit on two skills for crafting, at least had before MoP. ESO does not have any limits however you has to spend skillpoints on crafting to max it out.

WoW crafting is the same as it ever was. Don't know where anyone would get the idea it was unlimited.

That's your opinion, we all have them, it might fail then it might be the best thing since sliced bread, I have played a lot of mmo's since the late 90's and around every new game launch there is always a post that reads just like this one.. /shrug

I think you're missing 2 fundamentally important points, aside from the fact that not everyone wants what you want.

Firstly, and probably most importantly, ESO is aimed primarily at fans of the Elderscrolls series many of whom were/are not online gamers but simply single player fantasy RPG philes. What most people who fit into that category require is an online Elderscrolls game that plays and feels like that's what it is rather than adopting or copying the approach and style of other games in the MMORPG genre. gamesas didn't end up with the most popular RPG series by copying everyone else, in-spite of the criticisms aimed at them by certain sub-sections of the gaming community.

Secondly, how is choosing class a 'fail'? Since the advent of RP board games back in the dark ages, fantasy RPG has had a class system. Its kind of fundamental to it being an RPG really...

So basically, op, what you are saying is you would like the opportunity for one character to change class at will. So basically I could level up as a pure tank and then later on as a pure healer and swap roles on a whim?

Worst idea I have ever heard in my life..sorry but I'm being honest.

This was the old days, things have changed now it is 2014, Games have started using sand-box game classes, and professions for a reason.

I played Skyrim, and they never had any classes or skills as shown in the video.

Not exactly, but yeah basically you can level up everything on a single character if a person chooses to do such rather than create a character for every class in the game which to me is boring gets annoying for those looking to experience the whole game not start at level 1 run the same quests over and over again basically you level each class up individually but you can do it all on a single character.

How class changing system works you go to your house in a city, you change your class there which is the only place you can change it, so you can't change just to cheat in combat PVE, or PVP, this is just an example of course.

Yes I think it should work like this because it would keep me a paying subscriber.

No.... Chat..... BUBBLES!!!!!!!! that's seriously a no buy reason for me. people don't communicate because of this, and if someone does then I don't know who it is! especially in crowded areas, i mean wtf!! how hard can it be?

If i'll ever buy this game, it'll be when/if chat bubbles arrive.
