Moan, Moan, Moan..!

Hiya folks, first post on the forums (forum virgin here)!

Ive had the great pleasure of being able to play the ESO BETA, and without going into any details (stupid NDA) ive got to say its a great game! The thing thats getting to me though is the constant [censored]ing both in and out of the game over the monthly subscription. Guys, seriously, its only £8.99 a month! Thats a packet of [censored] and a sandwich (if your lucky) for a game with is constantly evolving and allowing you to join a living community. My WoW account has over 3k hours played on it now (played it since BETA) and ive not once worried about paying a sub. If your that concerned over the fee then dont play, but stop [censored]ing about it! quite frankly you could quite easily go without something trivial like a pack of [censored] or junk food/alcohol and easily afford it. Failing that, get a job!

/rant over

Thanks to the ESO team for producing what i feel will finally be a WoW breaker if not beater!

Regards

Grant

Asking MMO players to stop whining is like asking a honey badger to give a [censored]. It'll never happen.

For 15 Euros here you can get 30 Cheeseburgers from Mcdonalds :).

I can of course see where are you coming from but it's because you're paying with your local currency, What if i tell you the sub will be 150 a month? Will you be fine with it?

If this goes f2p, we're gonna get nothing but spam emails and chat all over the game on how to get free gold and free items using links outside the game. I rather pay monthly than deal with spammers. I've seen them on dcuo and swtor. I'm sure its happening in other f2p. I am not gonna see this here. Please ESO don't go f2p.

I agree, this game cannot get here quick enough. Me and my wife were both fortunate enough to play beta all week-end and already have the imperial edition waiting for us :) Can't wait to see you guys in there for launch!!

The way everyone complains about this game doesn't surprise me though, most of them are the type of people that would find a way to complain about being given a $100 bill. Sadly that's what reviews and internet comments have evolved into, complaints about how something isn't exactly how they want it and screw everyone else.

Im glad in not the only person all the complaining is pissing off heh! In answer to your question Ruud, no i wouldnt play it if it was £150 per month. I hadn't previously thought about exchange rates etc but I still feel you are in the minority as most of the noise seems to be coming from the Inbred console gaming community ;-) Ive a few small issues with the game but were still 2 months from release and there will always be mods! This aside ESo looks a fantastic game as i said above to which myself, and around 20 of my guild mates have already committed too and cant wait to form up in game and get down to some serious pvp!

Lol well as one of the console community members *insert retort here about being inbred*, Personally I don't care that much about the subscription fees. If the game is fun then I will pay it, plain and simple. If I don't enjoy it I won't play it, again plain and simple. I don't like the price of stupid xbox live fees plus a subscription fee, microsoft being the super money grubber it is, but at the end of the day I don't care for playstation games mostly and PC gaming never really interested me. So again, fees but I like the games so I deal, won't hear me moaning about the cost really.

Respect to above post. If a product is worth £8.99 to you, then you pay it. This applies to many things, i mean how many people pay for magazine or gym subscriptions?

P.s Unfortunatly what you say is typical Microsoft. They have been thieving bastards for years!

Lol its true, heck my oldest brother and his wife have gym subscriptions...and they never use them. And yeah, that is just Microsoft in a nutshell, I became numb to that years ago lol

Well done on generalising.. Yeah because RPGs usually appeal to dole grabbing yobos, not Battlefield 4 or other FPS shooters.

What about people like me who the last time they went to McDonalds was ten years ago...and ate a salad even then. Eat healthily exclusively. Don't drink, don't smoke. Work long hours and attend a gym and have a social life. But still want to participate in TESO. You forget about us...

Oh yes it's just 8.99..right it is not much. Unless you have to pay for all the bills in your house plus have something like Sky TV, gym membership, subcribe to things like Lovefilm or any other on demand service, have a female who demands stuff, motorbike, car, house.

I'm willing to bet you're people who are so casual about the 8.99 sub are living home and the parents pay the brunt (if not all) of the bills or are just starting out and live rental and don't have the responsibilities and expenses of owning their own house. I remember when I was like that.

Face it: this game will NOT be subcription based in eternity like WoW..and even the legendary WoW is starting to change to a pay2play model which means the likelyhood of this game succeeding like WoW are very very slim indeed. Many have tried..ALL have failed. So the real question is: WHEN will the subs be dropped. Will it be during the upcoming summer lul when less people will stay indoors to play or by the end of the year when the novelty of TESO has gone and new games come out and people have to budget for Christmas again.

I hate the sub model. Because gaming is not the highest on my list of priorities. It is categorised under "leisure" and if it's more than that for anyone, well then that's why they put the "mentalhealth.gov" link below. Leisure is meant to be fun, not stressful i.e. "I better get my moneys worth or I will lose out". Am I supposed to change job for a game or stop going to the gym? No thanks. This game needs to fit around my life.

You can pretend not many people are like me but that wont change the fact the opposite is true. The evidence is simply from the fact that no other game after WoW did a sub based game succeed. Obviously it's not very popular, otherwise we would have more than just the one. Not to mention the countless reviews and comments about people saying the same thing as me.

GW2 does a good job without subs. Why can't this game?

Anyway ignore us at your peril but people like me will vote with their feet...or credit card.

Subs are for games junkies who prefer and have the luxury to spend all their leisure time in a fantasy world. As if that's healthy for the mind and body. Subs give out the wrong message and to be honest I would love if the government steps in and makes them illegal...seeing they stamp out anything which harms people's health nowadays, especially kids. Yeah you can imagine a parent being happy for their kids to spend 6 hours every evening playing a computer game instead of doing homework or be outside participating in sport.

We need to move away from this so maybe one day I can proudly say "I am a gamer" to people in public without smirks and weird looks. Gaming is good..throwing your life away for a virtual one is not. People need to differentiate.

There, I moaned...still doesn't mean it's not true.

Well, actually im 32years old (today) with 4 children of my own and 2 step children. I have a mega-evil-[censored] ex wife to whome I pay maintenance. I also have a mortgage, 2 cars, several pets and a current wife who loves to spend money (you beat me on the Gym membership) and i still dont think £8.99 a month is alot of money. Its all a question of where you take your enjoyment. I work very very long hours as a manager in a multi national retail company and dont really enjoy going out in the free time i get. I prefer to be at home with the family but inevitably Eastenders or some crap like that will end up on TV which gives me a chance to sneak off to the PC (that or the baby wont sleep so im up all night). Yes my post was a generalisation but in all honesty is it worth going into massive details? I also called console gamers inbreeds and unfortunatly my 16 year old step son is one ( a console gamer that is ).

Kids shouldnt be playing this game anyway, its rated "mature", and advlts should be able to afford a 13euro sub without going broke.

And if you are going broke then you shouldnt be paying for such a luxury.

If you want to cease being a forum virgin you're kinda forced to partake in [censored]ing. Moaning is a natural part of that.

With all due respect but this mentality is what brought us all this, i have been gaming for ages and i remember the days where expansion packs and dlcs were called patches and were free but now every game have some method to milk you beyond paying the initial price of the game and people still pay they don't complain(if you want to call that complaining) so companies just keep going further with it. I am not against paying over the initial price if i like and appreciate the game but it shouldn't be an obligation or that if i don't pay more i won't play at all, there are many games out there that generate huge revenues without forcing their players to pay for anything, take Dota as an example the game is completely free of any charge yet people are paying tons of $ for nice looking items etc... but even if you didn't pay a cent you can enjoy every single feature of the game without any disadvantages.

Believe me i play video games more than anything else but this is as i said before way over the top and if people shut up and pay like you are telling us(in a polite way) they will keep milking you.

A thread that's designed to simply complain about how other people complain is not really needed.
