Skyrim ingamescreen split in half...bottom is black

Post » Wed Feb 12, 2014 8:37 am

Hello,

i have a problem with my Skyrim.. but its hard to explain.. cant post screenshots in here sadly.

Explanation:

I have a black screen ingame... its under a certain level of view.. i can look at the clouds and stuff but when i look down there is a *wall* of black on the entire game

What did i do to fix it:

Steamrepair option

Disabled all mods

Unsunscripted mods and deleted them manually from the data folder

Reinstalled Skyrim and started it without any mods installed

Changed the graphics to very low and changed the solution

Every other game works fine..

My system:

Win 7 64bit

I-5 3450 3,1Ghz Quadcore

8 GB Ram

Geforce GTX 660 TI OC

Is the problem maybe driver related? Please help me..

Thanks in advance.

Ps: english is not my native english.

Pps: How can i post screenshots in here, it would be for a better understanding.

You can't post links until you have been an active member for a few days.

As for your issue, just to make sure, was this a new character on your reinstalled game? You do not want to load a save that had mods on it into game that is not modded or has different mods on it.

Does this issue show up if you choose Windowed Mode? Does it show up if you change the resolution (game or windowed mode)

Read above too.....

Before u reinstalled Skyrim you manually deleted the Skyrim directory and the directory with your saves (with the two .ini files)? Started a new game?

Do that after a reinstall of the game, let the game re-detect your video card. A reinstall will not over write the existing files. The ones you want to delete are in My Documents/My Games/Skyrim Both the Prefs and Skyrim ini files

Delete those files so the game creates new defaults. The two files are located in your My Documents\My Games\Skyrim folder, and are named Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini.

Ninja'd.

I dont have the fasted connection sadly... could i just delete them manually and do the steam repair?

Edit: Just deleted the 2 files you mentioned and started a new game with the settings unchanged from the launcher... half of the screen is still black.

Have you changed the resolution just to see what happens?

Did your PC or Steam recently update your video card drivers? If so, try rolling them back. You can do this in the properties of the video card, or easier, use System Restore

Also, try disabling the Nvidia Control Panel if the above does not work. These are not your drivers.

First i will try a clean reinstall of the newest driver.. 332.21 after that ill try the older one 331.82.

Edit: 332.21 same issue...

Edit 2: Tried an older driver.. still the same... what else to do?.. i dont have any Ideas left...

Maybe one last clean install after i deinstalled and manually cleaned the system (including registry) of any skyrim file?

Can you load a picture here. It's free. http://tinypic.com/

And then write the url of that picture.

I can't figure it out, how this half black screen looks like. !!!!

---------------

Have you changed the resolution just to see what happens? (What screen resolution do you use ????)

What's about this ????

----------------

Do a clean installation of your drivers.

Link doesnt work, even manually written, ill send you a PM with the pic

As you can see, the black at the bottom.. iv i would look really far down.. the whole screen would be black... If i look up.. its working as usual.

Changed the resolution, nothing happened. Drivers are new installed, tried older one′s too.

@CCNA: Maybe i could send you the screenshots via email or something.. just an idea.

That's a new one for me.

Is anything else in the intro sequence acting funny - flying objects, stuck actors, etc.? It "could" be related to framerate as jasper mentioned if any of that stuff is happening.
