I just bought Skyrim for PC today and started playing it. Every time I look directly at someone who is talking, his voice gets so quiet I can not hear you. The strange thing is that when I look from an angle as if my ears are facing them I can hear them very well. I checked my sound options, my surround sound is calibrated right and I do not think the game is defective. Any help?

Not sure how well Skyrim does with anything better than stereo sound.... might try that.

With a 5.1 array, almost all dialog comes from the center speaker. If your Windows Sound Card Applet is misconfigured, this can happen. Make sure that it is set to 2.1 or 5.1 or whatever you have. You can also set this in other areas on your machine, so look and see what applications you have that want to poke their nose into your sound card.

Disable any sound helper software to see if that clears up the issue, for example, I won't let the Creative Control Center (or what ever it is called, load with my system)

Are they 5.1/7.1 headphones or stereo? Brand?
