The NDA and quality reviews.

Post » Wed Feb 12, 2014 10:20 pm

Of course that occurs to me. No product - whether it be a car, a house, or a game - will ever make everyone happy. Such a task would be impossible. You say that you have experienced everything beta had to offer and still dislike the game. That's fine. I wish you luck in finding something that more suits your taste.

But this thread isn't about people like you. It's about so called reviews that attempt to discuss and criticize content they either had no or very little experience with.

What's the difference between "Press Reviews" and jack arm opinions here? We can't discuss anything civil w/ information. Anything that doesn't follow / support zealotous opinions gets pushed aside.

Are there reviews out there that don't have as much playtime as you and I did in the beta? Sure.

I still found those reviews spot on with my own concerns about the game, so I'm against trivializing anyone's opinion. Why dose it concern you that there are negative reviews? You've already came to your own conclusion, so they are mostly irrelevant to you. You have no financial interests in the game, right? So all they help do is give players who haven't played the beta a glimpse at gameplay and decide to preorder or wait for more information.

If the game can speak for itself, then it will during open beta.

I work for the government, in a lab, as a post doc.

I'm here because I was excited about the game, and could be again if certain things change between now and release.

But way to go on questioning why someone is posting on a public and open forum, would you like to see my papers too?

The point of the thread is to discuss how lifting the NDA will allow for informed discussions and reviews. And like you said some of these reviews may effect the opinion of individuals that are on the fence about the game. My point is only to suggest that it is in their best interest to wait until the NDA is lifted in order to get a wider more informed selection of reviews and discussions before they decide.

You criticize me for doing this, yet here you are questioning me about my interest in this subject after already stating that you cancelled your pre order.

You're not actually discussing any positive, you're railing against negative reviews because they don't meet your expectations of game play. The game has faults, every game has faults, but anyone who mentions the negatives or suggests ways to make the game better (which almost all the negative reviews I've read do) are somehow inherently malicious? Come on now.

Any on he fence player will still give the open beta when it happens a shot, they will have an opportunity to the decide. Why do you feel a need to convince on the fence players to play?

I'm not discussing positives because I can't. Why does this thread bother you so much? I am just saying that most of the reviews I have seen/read are very clearly uninformed or limited. You keep asking me over and over and over again why any of this is so important to me. Would you like to see my papers as well? This is not some crusade. it is my opinion. Everyone has one. If you don't like my opinion, than so be it.

Then so be it, the comments in the thread bother me. It's senseless bashing of people's own views of the game.

Are you suggesting that it's impossible that some of these reviews are bought out by competitors? Are you suggesting that all of these reviews are well informed. Are you suggesting that I am not entitled to my opinion about it? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then please leave the internet.

ZOS needs to lift the NDA already. The longer they hold out, the worse it's going to be for them.

The issue a lot of people are forgetting is that these selective betas are giving you the best the game has to offer for the most part.

Go play ANY gae out there from start to around level 20. I dont care if its a game youre bored to tears of. Those first few levels and areas fly by and it looks awesome. Not until you start getting into the meat of it (which no one has seen in regards to ESo yet) do you really see what the game is like.

THAT I think is one of the main reasons why the NDA is up. Its easy to drop the NDA for the press when theyre seeing everything a million other people can see for themselves. What a lot of folks want to here are the people who got past that beginning area.

This to me looks like AOC all over again. Let people see the first zone(s) and keep the NDA up late, brag about how awesome the PvP is going to be and hope people are preoccupied enough to see the glaring shortcomings in the PvE.

All the fans might love to see the NDA drop so they can give their opinions (just like everyoen else can) but what Zenimax doesnt want to see are the reviews and previews of the few hundred people who have seen past a level 15 zone.

I found all the reviews I read to reflect actual game play, none that seemed "bought out." You're entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.

And that's the rub, how many people are willing to suffer through the un-fun stuff based on a promise that "it gets better at some point"? All the MMO's that I've stuck with for any amount of time really drew me in from the beginning rather than feeling like a tedious grind right from the start.

Don't let those reviews influence what might be a fantastic experience for you, even if it's a horrible thing for them.

There's plenty that people have complained about and they're features of the game that I personally love - it's all subjective.

You'll get your chance to form your own opinion soon enough.
