Hi, being as careful as ever not to break the nda
I've just completed the survey form you sent out, but I find the way some things are worded and the options given, could give the complete wrong ideas bout how I feel about certain things.
For instance I'm asked if I played PVP, I did but I didn't get to level 10 and into PVP until about 1hr before I had to log off on the last day of beta, I completed the training mission, had a look round, had one 1v1 fight with someone in the wilds, and then had to log.
So I've correctly said I took part in the PVP
I've said I enjoyed the Welcome to Cyrodil quest
But asking me if I spent the majority of time playing solo or in a group isn't really applicable, but I had to put solo.
And almost the entire "Please indicate how much you agree or disagree with the following" questions relating to PVP was not applicable to me due to the amount of time I had to play, but there was no option for that, I couldn't say I strongly agreed or disagreed with the questions as I hadn't tried them, so I had no choice but put "neutral", but had I tried them, I might have loved them (or hated them)
So for example me putting neutral for "Classes felt balanced in PvP" is meaningless as was such things as "I felt there was enough time to secure a Keep after we captured it.", but you could read that as I simply thought "meh" when thats not the case at all.
Then there was other questions that can give you a very misleading opinion.
"I had fun and I am looking forward to the next play session."
"I was immersed in the world, and the play session time went quickly"
"I would buy this game."
"I am excited to play ESO when it is released"
I gave very positive answers to all of those because after 7 days of game play, the game clicked with me and I simply cant wait.
But as I've said elsewhere, what I think needs addressing is that tis game didn't grab me until I had given it a few days of play, and I know I'm not alone with this view
A big concern of mine is that unlike other mmos I've played for months or years, TESO failed to give me the wow factor (as in the word, not the game) within the first hour of playing and after the first beta, I had to force myself to leave EQ2 and take part in the 2nd beta. I'm glad I did as it finally all clicked and I now can see me playing for years, but its still a fact that I felt like this and when I've said so both here and in beta forum, many others have said they found the same, the game didn't come alive until a few days of play.
But, if I answer the questions like the ones I quoted above, my answer would be a firm yes to all of them, but that doesn't give any indication to the devs etc of what it took me to get to that point or how I found it initially.
I'm not meaning to complain, far from it, I think this game is great, but I do worry that such surveys can easily give the devs a warped opinion of what people are really thinking.
I also notice there appears to be nothing to stop people sending in multiple surveys if they desired, I haven't tried this, but there was nothing to stop me going into the survey again while writing this post.
