Suggestions to Zenimax based off PC Gamer review

Post » Wed Feb 12, 2014 8:34 pm

Hello,

Based on the Review by PC Gamer I hav a few suggestions to Zenimax to make this already amazing looking game even better.

Review I am basing suggestions off of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9E_V24RuCc

1) To enhance the realism of the world . . . Fill it with more stuff. From the review ESO looks like a giant world, but I don't get the feeling that it has enough stuff in it.

Ex) during the review at 5 min 30 sec, the reviewers bring up the issue of stagnant resource animations that have a stiff feel. Seems to me this issue could be fixed by including more bugs/ butterflys /critters with more random movements and larger areas for them to wander and more interesting component drops.

2) Another big thing that could be made better is what the reviewers described as linear quest lines. I think that this could be fixed by throwing in more caves, more forest clearings, more bandit camps, whatever you want to call these zones (maybe monster nodes) in which the areas are not tied directly to quests but seem more of an unexpected place that has been discovered and would contain maybe a chest or two of cool loot, or maybe hidden things in a small bandit camp that. Also lets say these areas are designed with at least 10 mobs in close proximity to each other so that if you attack 5 of them swarm you and then the other 5 join in eventually, this would encourage people to join groups in order to conquer these minor challenges. It would encourage dialogue between players and a sense of accomplishment. After you clear out such an area it would be cool if all the characters that participated found a clue that would lead to a quest that would be marked on your map, but maybe not the actual start of a quest itself.

3) Just some general comments: These reviewers really want this game to succeed they are huge elder scrolls fans and they are right about the challanges that ESO will have to ensnare both crowds off TES and MMO players. Its a great opportunity for a new and exciting game and I just want to give suggestions so that the game is successful and goes in the right direction, whatever that direction maybe

I highly encourage people to make positive posts based on the PC Gamer review so that Zenimax Developers will see and listen to community feedback and make the game even better. Thank you for your time.

Another thing the monster nodes I am suggesting do not need to be elaborate big zones, just small little dinky camps or troll lairs or bear dens, or something with distracting interesting monsters and items to encourage you to explore.

My advice is to not listen to any game review sites because they're all [censored].

And linear quests? Are you serious? The quests in other MMOs are so much worse. These are at least more varied and epic feeling. God I hate everyone.

Frankly, I have been seeing reviews and comments in which people say they are getting bored of exploring and I think that's cause there is not enough stuff in the world to catch people's attention. I think that's the opposite of what ZOS wants and they should do something about it.

Once again I'll say.

Whoever was the guy playing in their video's they were all spamming next in a quest and then complain of lack of immersion or explanation why they were doing what they were doing.

You can't take them seriously after that, simple as that.

So you liked everything about the game as it is? Do you have any suggestions on how to make the game better?

I think that we should be listening to these reviews and I think ZOS should be too because these reviewers and genuine, they like the Elder Scrolls franchise they like MMOs and they are hoping for a new type of gaming experience based on the combination of the two and that is what I am hoping for as well.

The review is balanced, even though they begin with things that they did not like, they go back at the end and praise the things they did like.

Yes, they were doing that and I think a fix for that . . . because we all know there are going to be grinders who just wanna advance advance davance . . . is to include a lot of content that is not quest related and more spontaneous. Say you follow a bunch of seemingly unconnected little hints and clues there could be a quest like reward at the end, but it should not specifically shout at you "hey look at me I'm a quest!!"

No, there's a few things I don't like about the game and I've dumped ridiculous amounts of feedback about it.

But all of these reviews are pretty much [censored]. Oh boohoo the game isn't Skyrim enough, or it costs too much, or I didn't like the tutorial zones. People just love to hear their worst fears echoed back to them and latch on regardless of how much of it is true or not.

I agree that the reviews are a little premature. Everyone is chomping at the bit to take a bite out of ESO either because they are fans and enjoy the flavor or because they are pesimists and wish its demise.

That being said . . . it needs to be recognized that there are serious things that ZOS can do to make the game much more fun and worthy of the fan fervor and excitement for the game.

To me reviewers are totally ignoring the fact that new content and new game systems are going to be rolled out after ESO launches like a justice system and other guilds. I pretty much think they have a good barebones MMO/game here with plenty of room for expansion and the ability to flush out details as they become relevant and the player community asks for. If I play the game for 2 yrs and nothing changes then shame on me . . .

The much maligned angry joe review pretty much echoes what I have suggested here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upE802rZl7Q skip to 15 mins 30 secs

These are legitimate concerns and I hope/pray ZOS can take the criticism and do something about it. I want this game to be amazing.

He's got a harsh attention seeking style . . . hence youtube and why he's getting so much press . . . but the time I suggested you go to is one of his more moderate buddies talking and making some good points. You and I are on the same side Carde :D

I've got a harsh attention seeking style. I just can't take anything about a game from someone who raged out at it at level 8 or whatever. :(

Honestly these suggestions sound like 'fixes' for problems whose existence is a matter of opinion rather than fact.

What IS a fact is that people will always come up with things they think could be changed or as they put it 'improved', but that does not mean everything (or indeed anything) they suggest should be seriously considered.

He is too angry to take seriously *winks*

I disagree with his complaints. Since I'm not allowed to break NDA, I will say nothing more than that.

But, anyone that "rage quits" at L7 or 8 and then goes on the review the game they didn't play fully ...... this might be a concern to most folks.

I'm still having trouble understanding why you write in such big letters, but...

If I were a developer, I wouldn't be paying attention to any reviewer who only made it to level 5, ignored quest text (before whining about not knowing why they were doing things) and ignored all the tutorials on combat (before whining about how combat felt). The PC Gamer preview was a complete disgrace.

I can't take him seriously,

Even jumping to your time mark where he [censored]es about the sub model . A good game is a good game regardless of the pricing model. A bad game is a bad game regardless of the pricing model.

He comes across like one of the many who just don't want to pay the subscription and all the cheapskates who agree with that are holding him up as their champion.

My suggestion is to make the beginning less boring, that way people can make it to the end. Grinding 50 hours just to get to the good areas of the MMO is not a smart business decision because it will give the impression that you're wasting my time and I have to pay 15 a month too. It's not going to end well.
