I had a great idea come to me the other day....why not role play as Charon or Roy Phillips?

It would be easy to set up, all you would need is - Leather Armour and either a Combat Shotgun or Chinese Assault Rifle, depending on the character (also, a combat knife for Charon). Tag the relevant skills, adjust your SPECIAL accordingly, and rush to Tenpenny Tower to get the ghoul mask. All perfectly possible before you hit level 3 or 4.

I think playing Roy would probably be the better of the two - not only is the Chinese Assault Rifle more multi-purpose, but being Roy would be a licence to be completely self-serving and evil towards humans. He has an agenda, whereas Charon does not. Also, you could even recruit Charon as a companion at the same time, forming a two-ghoul party to take over the Wasteland. You can then kill the real Roy and take his place, living in the fancy Tenpenny Tower suite.

If I wasn't in the middle of New Vegas at the moment, I would definitely do this.

As much as I encourage RPing, I don't really see the point of playing as a real character in the game. You are playing someone else, which essentially means you have less room to be creative, seeing as Roy's personality is already set.

Roleplaying someone like Roy would be a cool idea, though.

I once tried roleplaying as Clover. I made a female character with a white mohawk in a dirty pre-war spring dress and armed her with a chinese officer's sword and sawed-off shotgun. Basically I started in Paradise Falls, killed the real Clover and got the slavers hostile. I pretended that Clover finally got fed up with Eulogy and fought her way to freedom and escaped Paradise Falls, and she was living a peaceful life in Megaton.

However I quickly got bored with the roleplay and switched back to the character I always play as: me.

If you have the pc version just changed your race id to the Ghoul race and make Charons face a Generated face.
