we really dont need to revisit the unlimited ammo topic do we lol.
http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1487147-dedicated-eso-beta-thread-beta-remains-under-nda/?hl=%20official%20%20beta
please don't make any more topics like these and read forum rules. ZoS do no read in these forums.
The melees do. Casting spells and archery animations are adequate. Melee animations are teh stink.
NDA and stuff.....
I disagree on low deeps, no ammo (this isn't Skyrim) and short range.
Yet, its a RPG, more than any other MMO, so having ammo would add more immersion to the game, a real archer, ALWAYS go to battle with his quivers full.
This NDA is going to kill this game, mark my words.
I'm not a fan of it still being in effect, but "kill" the game? Hardly.
Concur. Like the ability to use different types of arrow.
With how big crafting is in this game, I don't see what the big deal would be. I mean in Skyrim I ended up with a couple thousand iron arrows without trying.
Would also give a reason for bow users to use woodworking other than just making bows.
I remember a day when hunters in WoW had to not only equip # slot quivers, but also buy/make their own arrows. I personally did not like this as it took up massive amounts of inventory space and monetized your dps output to min/max standards even if you had an epic bow. I remember buying/making 4,000 arrows at a time and when you run out, you are often some place where you can't get more easily. I'm all for immersion, it just doesn't work for game design well IMO. It's just more to micromanage.
EDIT: Of note, 4,000 arrows could be burned up in a single raid night leaving you high and dry when you encounter the last boss. Also of note, at some point in a long ago time, hunters in WoW were melee
i understand what you say... in a dungeon/raid ammo indeed can be a problem, i've played hunter in wow just when they get rid of ammo tho, but i remember in Neverwinter Nights, everytime i saw my last arrows, had that feeling "man, gotta find a village or city real quick now" , to find a craft station or shop.
These kind of feelings, having in a MMO, would make your blood runs a bit faster, like that feeling when you're playing desk RPG. When you really fells your character, like you're there.
In real life, when you shoot anything in the eye with an arrow from a longbow with 100 pound draw, it's dead. One-hit kill.
In most MMOs, you have to unload entire quivers of arrows on most mobs, certainly elites and bosses, so can we drop the "immersive" argument already?
I just want to shoot from shadows, go for headshots, and launch a ridiculous volley of arrows over a wide area without fiddling with inventory, arrow retrieval, dumping cash on another money sink, and running out of ammo in the middle of a dungeon that's larger than I anticipated.
It's not really that immersive, and it certainly isn't fun.
i have been saying this for a year now. it wont happen, immersion is like a trump card on this forum. anything anyone wants a change they just throw it out there
as for the topic its be discussed a lot in the past. making archers have to use arrows adds an additional tax to 1 form of combat on top of being an annoying mechanic at times. its much better the way it is. in a single player game its fine as balance does not matter but in an mmo world unlimited in the way to go
I don't know if what I'm about to say is going to break the NDA but: Archery seems kind of pointless from the videos I've seen on beta gameplay on YouTube.
I don't know the youtuber who pointed it out, but the arrows are homing unlike being realistic/skill based.
From what I have gathered, I disagree. It's quite good offering ranged dps single target & aoe. Check out the TF dungeon video where one of the players was a bow wielding templar.
