Just started point lookout and...superhuman tribals? Really?

Post » Sat May 01, 2010 8:36 am

I don't know what to say. These tribals do more damage with knives than super mutants do with super sledges. I did a test, with DR 66 in T-51B armor, a tribal with a lever action rifle does 50 hp damage per shot to me. Please explain what is going on?

When i first entered the mansion i took out my minigun and...found it did absolutely nothing except get me killed. I think it takes 60+ rounds from the minigun at 100 big guns to kill a single tribal. I dont know whats going on anymore. These guys are about as hard to kill as a super mutant overlord or feral ghoul reaver.

For this and other reasons, I never finished Point Lookout and went straight for Mothership Zeta when that was released, before removing the game altogether from my harddrive.

Other then the balance between player and NPCs, I found its main quest not that appealing and as was with The Pitt, I wasn't able to negotiate a settlement between the two parties involved. I had to choose between the one or the other, other options apparently don't exist with Bethesda . . .

The game is programmed (don't know the specifics) for the enemies in PL to do extra damage. Defending the mansion.... luckily I had a supply of frag and bottlecap mines with me. Lincoln's Repeater or a flamer to mop up.

The trick to Point Lookout is getting there very early in game (by level 4 or 5) and using their own weapons against them. At that level, most of them are armed with knives and hunting rifles. They don't last long against a Double-Barrel Shotgun which you can buy from Panada as soon as you step off the Duchess Gambit. At higher levels, use Lincoln's Repeater, A3-21's Plasma Rifle or run and get the Backwater Rifle as soon as you get there.

If you have operation anchorage and got the chinese stealth armour i found it easy to crouch down and go invisible to beat point lookout other than that i got my ass killed every time.

But still...why are they sueprhuman, take more damage than super mutant overlords and do 35 irrestible damage? What is the possible explanation to this?

Half a dozen tribals could probably overrun the Citadel.

I've added the Swamp Folk list to my Wasteland wilderness spawns, it makes for some interesting encounters. They're one of the few things that can actually kill me out in the wilderness. They're not too bad at the lower levels but once I start running into Creepers, it can get pretty hairy.
