How NPC looting should be handled, who gets to loot it?

Post » Sat Feb 15, 2014 12:25 am

The way it should be

You kill a mob. The mob has some sweet loot, but then another player runs up to my kill and steals my loot from the corpse! Since that player stole from me I should be able to attack them and have a PVP fight ensue.

Why?

Imagine 10 players in an area killing mobs. 9 of 10 players respect everyone's mob loot and they don't steal, but one player decides to go around and steal loot from other peoples kills.

What happens now?

1. The players can band together and attack the player thief.

2. All the players will remember the name of this thief and his reputation may cause him hardship back in town.

A few wonderful things manifested from the above encounter

* Player Community (players banding together for a common cause)

* A form of Dynamic Quest involving players only was established.

* Players get to know each other and may talk to each other over an exciting conflict.

THE POINT

Of every ESO beta video review I've seen, I haven't seen any interaction or communication amongst players due to a lack of conflict/interaction between players.

My god it's crazy how you people think.

I'm talking about you killing a mob and then me running up to it and STEALING the loot from it. What are you gonna do now? Attack me?

You can't do that. Simple as that.

There lies the problem, in ESO there is no way for players to come into unexpected conflict with each other through natural exploration. It's all "controlled". They need a server that is "uncontrolled" that let's free will play a bigger role.

I don't see a problem. It's fine the way it is.

Apparently that is the issue. He wants to be able to pick fights with other players outside of Cyrodiil. I'm happy with a confined PvP model but some people want a more expansive one. I think Zen have made the right decison. Wider PvP will put off more people than it would attract.

I'm simply not interested in PvP outside of the PvP map and I don't care who shoots what mob or gets what loot.

I think the issue is that he wants to be able to loot other people's kills so that they can then pvp him (even though this would give the looter a massive advantage as the looted party has just been fighting something).

I'm all for open world PvP, but your scenario is utterly ridiculous, I'm not sure how old you are, or how much you buy into ridiculous over the top role play, but inventing game mechanics and dynamic quests targeted at players is simple absurd and a ridiculous waste of dev resources. Not to mention the plethora of other problems you would introduce by allowing people to steal other peoples loot, anyway without being rude about it, you clearly haven't given this idea any more thought than the time it took you to type it, back to the drawing board mate

Are you that blind?

read the answers.

If you damage a mob you get you own loot, it DOESN'T MATTER who attacks it more.

if 10 people attack the same mob, each guy gets HIS OWN loot. Simple as that.

SHORT VERSION: You don't get that problem in ESO.

Loot is allocated for each player. I think that much has been publicly announced already somewhere or other, so should be safe to say that.

So in short - you dont care that there is no loot stealing, instead you simply want to grief other players who did NOT WISH to be atacked at all?

And you seriously think that they gonna enjoy that?
