The only class I would play as female would be a Bosmer or a Dunmer. The rest would all be male.

This right here is usually the reason why I play a female. But for this game I think will be me playing Argonian and I don't quite like the Argonian female models so Male this.
Male only. I am very comfortable as a man.
I believe Sigmund Freud had some good ideas about men who pretend to be females and women who pretend to be men. Something about "Envy" and "Electra" but I don't remember all the details.
Not everybody who plays the other gender has an identity disorder or crisis.
However comparing "You feel okay playing an elf" is an Apples to Oranges fallacy. A better comparison would be a white person making a "black" character or black person making a "white character". I am not just saying a White Person who plays a Redguard, but one who "Plays as a black person" in the same way that some people "Play as female person".
There are things in this world that I fail to understand, like the concept of faith. (Please don't follow up with this, I'm just making a statement about me, not starting a debate.)
The cliche "To each their own" rings true here, and just goes to show that we all play very differently, despite similar interests.
Not really a "defense". Its a summation, at least for me, rather then spilling out the long-winded explanation for exactly why I prefer female characters over male characters.
To address this specifically, no, I don't actually stare at my characters back-side, but I do prefer 3rd person view in most games, which includes my characters back-side, which my (And your) brain still sees, even if not the focus of your view. Just like you can always see the tip of your nose, but your brain ignores it. (Have fun with that one XD)
Freud's Oedipus and Electra complex had nothing to do with one gender pretending to be another, it hinges on a childs relationship on a psychosixual level with their parents and is more than a little odd.
Back to the topic at hand, in the MMO I've played for the longest (DDO) I had three male toons and three female toons. The three female toons were by far the most successful builds and so I played a female toon 80% of the time which just goes to show that the fairer six will ALWAYS get their own way, even being fictional doesn't serve as much of a hindrance!
The 40 year old, fat, toothless, bald, greasy, person online pretending to be a sixy elf wearing a skimpy ribbon-suit is one of the oldest tropes.
It doesn't hurt anybody though, right?
I mean, who actually goes into an MMO like "Man, I am gonna meet some women!", really? Most of the women are either married, taken, are not "desirable" or are actually man. Some people, sheesh! They think every cute female avatar on the internet accurately represents the person behind the screen and gets mad if it doesn't. I mean, if you aren't going to meet the person anyway, why do you even care?
Male for me, because I play first person and never third in TES games so my characters back doesn't matter.
