this is most likely my last post here. Gaming is a major hobby and i really looked forward to this game. Normally i don't post such threads and it will not matter much i guess...but i need a valve for my frustration.

Two of the major turn ons for me were the subscription model and the three faction based system.

I always defended the subscription model because you still get a lot of value for your money if the game is good and the big advantage is you just pay once per month and don't have too worry about ingame commercials or any missing content.

In my opinion the best aspect about a faction system with different races (optimally different classes) is the immersion you get when you finally face the other faction and they look different maybe even have different abilties from yours. That strengthens both the identification with your faction and makes you sometimes really wanting to try out the other factions. It's one big pillar to keep the game interesting.

First they made each armor style avaiable for every race. I can live with that but they even made each armor style available to each faction. That already really made me grind my teeth. That beeing said what actually destroyed the two most important aspects of the game for me with one single blow was the announcment of the Preorder/Imperial Bonuses.

You have to buy the game, you have to pay a subscription fee AND NOW you have to actually pay additional money (Preorder, Cash Shop) to get access to all content (Imperial race, Every race in every faction). That singlehandily destroys every argument one could make for a subscription model. Blatant money grabbing that alone was enough for me to cancel my preorder.

But that wasn't enough they even had to make every race playable for every faction. After already watering down the system by making all armor avaiable to everyone, removing racial active skills ;( and being able to play every faction after you finished your inital choice they removed the last thing that made the factions somewhat unique/interesting. That was what made me write this post because it goes against their initial design philosophy (why even create factions in the first place) in such a radical way that i can only believe the developers got pressured to do this sh*t by the publisher.

I really liked a lot of stuff about this game and didn't care about the mixed previews/reviews one could read but now i only feel anger and frustration since i don't feel the game's soul anymore just the how can we get as much fast money from this stuff meta by disregarding core design philosphies. If they do this before the game is released it will only get worse.

My only hope would be a MASSIVE [censored] storm but i guesss now it's too late to take back what they already announced....

Edit: That's my personal opinion and i'm aware there are people that don't care about these topics. Well i feel really glad for you since you can still enjoy the game.

i love es and i bought the CE and i will be playing eso. even tho i have some realy disturbing disagreements with eso i will still be there and having fun. i do agree with your comments but i love es. and i have been waiting for this for a very long time.

Underhanded but damn business smarts there. Plus, with all the news post shiitE noob island and pvp vids .. I can repented my heretic ways. Don't think I can afford the game + sub, but damn i wanna play now. FYI family of 5 below poverty level, so really can't afford.

simple if you like the game you buy it its called supporting the developers of the game you like, if you dont like it or only like it a little then you go play f2p or you go to pirates bay and steal it.

RVR is what it is the game lead dev is Matt Firor who has tried over and over again to recreate DAOC it cant be helped

now as far as the collectors edition goes? EVERY game ever has always offered a collectors edition EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, and usually u get a house or a mount or some other equally worthless crap that ur only gonna use once and forget about it,

this is the first Collectors Edition EVER to offer something where I actually feel I am getting my moneys worth, so for a lousy 10 dollars I get Imperial I get the ability to make any race any faction I get the ability to craft imperial armor and I get an Imperial Horse and I forget what else.....

Subscription? hell same as above if your not willing to spend 15 bux a month for 30 days entertainment 24 hours a day 7 days a week then your either poor or cheap honestly no where are you gonna find as good a deal as this and then once it goes free 2 play in about 8 months well then youll have the added benefits because u were a subscriber beforehand

quite honestly I think most of you that are complaining at this point are just doing it to either 1 try and drag the game down or 2 try and get something for nothing aka the imperials or 3 just hungry for attention even if its negative attention

if your not gonna play the game cause u dont like the game then just fess up that u dont like the game and move on seriously be a grownup about it

otherwise dig into ur wallet pull out the lousy xtra 10 bux for the imperial edition and stop tryin to cheat zenimax out of what is rightfully theirs and quite honestly it is because besides the tutorial I think they did an amazing job and I am looking forward to April 4th

Don't jump off the fence. Seriously, you don't need to buy it or give up on it right now; you can just keep an eye on the game. The NDA will be lifted (right? ) and definitely when the game is released you'll get a better idea of the gameplay. Just keep an eye on it and ignore people like Poisinivy.

Optional content that does not give you an in-game advantage (such as pets, mounts, and yes, even a race) are not game breaking. At all. And they've been a common practice since CoH. If you're going to "leave" a game that isn't even out yet, at least do so for a justified reason.

Things that upset me.

1) Sub fee. Is this 2010?

2) Limiting a race to CE buyers. So what's the sub fee for if we don't get full access to the game?

3) Feels like a watered down Skyrim. Might as well go play Skyrim honestly, at least that has awesome mods.

4) No PvP at all besides AvA. Alienating an entire fan-base by limiting the game to 1 type of PvP.

The only saving grace for this game is that AvA does indeed look fun. Not enough fun to warrant a sub fee though. Will probably pick the game up after it goes F2P in 4-6 months after the publishers are satisfied with their monies and lay off the devs a bit.
