The Elder Scrolls without soul and heart.

Post » Sun Feb 16, 2014 2:47 am

Incredibly boring fighting in the game.

Since it's an MMO, it's sacrificing the soul and heart of The Elder Scrolls because of technical limiation of being a MMO.

All this game made ??me feel, was to log out, delete it and play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which is 1,000 times more worth spending time on.

Plus it doesn't cost you over 60 bucks plus 14? bucks each month to enjoy. But why would I pay to enjoy something that isn't what I was looking for anyway, very sad.

Oh well. Just had to share as the NDA is gone.

I enjoyed the combat, so to each their own I guess.

So you went into am MMO, expecting to play like a single player game, and are let down because it plays like a MMO? I am sorry you weren't better...informed?

I had a blast with combat. I can agree that giving it a little more weight might be nice, but I didn't notice that enough for it to be a real problem.

I loved the combat :T

And I don't think that the combat is "the heart and soul" of the TES games. To me, the lore is, but that's just me.

I'm sorry if this is not the game for you. I hope you have fun playing Skyrim.

While agree the combat is really lame, even for an MMO(seriously what kind of excuse is that? There are plenty of MMOs with good combat systems these days, we're moving the next gen, no excuse to stay behind)

The heart and soul of TES has always been exploration for me and there's hardly any to be had here. Even compared to other themepark MMO's.

Such a shame, i mean the game is decent but it's basicly just another MMO with some Elderscrolls sprinkles which i guess is great for some.

Personally i'd rather have had something new and unique with the TES feel and freedom, atleast there's some in the class system.

AH ha ha .. as a newly appointed convert .. are you kidding me? It's not meant to be "Skyrim Multiplayer" and that's what I hated people saying. The looks and sounds are supposed to make you feel like in Tamriel, 1000 years before Skyrim. And truly have succeeded. As for combat, better than MMO clone .. it gives / forces to you actually play. The huge Anit_ESO movement .. is pre leaving noob island and prison. THOSE ARE FQWKING HORRIBLE!! That's what busted me just hours into 2nd beta invite, now I feel like a schmuck knowing whats beyond that. W/out proper class / skill info, it's kind of hard to chose what to do. I found myself comparing single player to MMO. I would have loved to seen more ES elements i.e. mechanics, but that would only benefit hardcoe / twitch players. MMO mechanics to balance that out. With what stuff has been said, I trully understand ESO / ZM decisions. I do think some stuff isn't original or creative, but combined is unique and a better play style. I am sadden that I can't afford it and I don't need other peoples financial opinions. We're all different, with different needs.

I prefer $ub, because it keeps the servers from being spammed w/ farmers and [censored]e noobs and sellers spamming chat.

combat is shallow and clunky and the animations need to be more exciting.

even swtor had better animations...

No, no and no.

Combat didn't feel clunky in the least. Everything responded in real-time. I was able to react to fight mechanics, and I was punished if I reacted too slowly. Animations were clear on my end, so unless you have something more specific than "they were bad"...

The elder scrolls series is famously known for its simplistic and boring combat.

If anything, ESO has far more complex combat that any TES game including Skyrim.

I don't doubt you feel this way, but I have no earthly idea how. The sand-swept domes of the Redguard's temples, the sleek Khajiit lazily strumming lutes in the ocean breeze, the thrill of sneaking up on an enemy and being able to use my own aim to hit it with an arrow... no game has ever felt so much like TES to me.

I bet these people want asian mmo's type of skills and attacks, where you fly into the air, summon huge energy, do impossible stunts through the air, ground, w/e.

Well no, while I agree animations need to be a bit faster to remove some of this "clunky" feeling, I really don't think it's as bad as you make it sound.

Some beta builds have been better/more responsive than others but for the most part, I completely disagree with OP. But have fun in whatever game you end up playing.

Skyrim was the most lackluster game imo as far as "soul and heart" is concerned. Jeremy Soule did a wonderful job in making the game 100x better with his music, fortunately.

But oh well, opinions, amirite?

No, compared to other MMO's.

Why are you being sarcastic at the end there.

Altho the combat is not perfect yet and some things must be fixed is not really that bad and i enjoyed it more than skyrim (personal preference). So far this game makes me want to play a mmo again after many years and if they work a little more in combat until release i think i will stay in ESO for a long time.

How long did you play? To what level?

My initial reaction was same as yours at the start of the game, but I slowly started to like the game and combat too after I had left the starter island. The combat becomes more interesting when you level up and get more abilities.
